What kind of grease for window linkage/mechanics?

Hi all,

I have some interior panels off at the moment on the 66.

Any idea what grease/lube to use on window linkage/mechanics?

I have some Timken wheel bearing grease handy. Not sure if that will run/melt and make a mess or not.

White lithium grease apply generously.

I’d go with what you have as long as not real thick, although w.lithium will work pretty good.

I recently had all my linkage out as part of resto on my '63 Plymouth. Factory used WL grease but this stuff gets crusty-hardens after years to a dark mustard yellow. It's best to get that old stuff off; but it's not easy without some grease called "elbow". I used mineral sprits soak in my tank for a few days then power washed it off. If you can't do that you can scrap off the old excess grease that does nothing to lube the moving parts. Make sure you get a good coating on all the moving areas of the linkage and gearing.

You can use this for anything.
It won't wash off or run.
But it doesn't really penetrate.
And you might need that.

was going to recommend lucas, the blue wheel bearing grease is nice stuff, i find the white lithium grease dries out

i’m goin with some Dow Vacuum grease. it’s a heavy silicone.

A lot of the suggestions sounds just fine and I stuck with WL with my resto just cuz that's what was used though today there are superior lubricants for sure. Idea is to have a pasty type of lube that sticks as the moving linkage wants to push it aside and is why you usually find the stuff clumped around those areas of the regulators serving no purpose other than looking shitty!
