What Vehicle Did You Drive During First DMV Road Test?

Dad taught me to drive in a 1973 Plymouth Fury I. Took my test at 16 and passed first time.
Then I got my first and only speeding ticket. Cops came to the house and told my parents. Went to court as a juvenile delinquent. Had to go to rehabilitation seminars where they try to scare you straight with films of fatal accidents.

I learned to drive in a 66 Newport and a 64 Pontiac Strato-Chief (Canadian Lemans). The Pontiac was an odd ball. It had a Chevy 283 which may have been original with a power-glide. Manual choke, manual steering with crappy tires. It was smooth but pretty weak, it would quit easily at a stop sign when cold. I never knew what to tell the guy at the parts store when I needed parts.
Shortly before my drivers test my mom got a 1979 Lemans from my grand father when he bought a new Pontiac.
My dad suggested I take the test in the Lemans since it was easier to parallel park.
Oddly enough it quit when making a K-turn. But the old Strato-Chief quit so often it was no big deal, I adeptly threw it in neutral fired it up and finished the parallel park.
I passed.

I took the test at 15 passed first time. I was driving a 63 Ford Galixie wagon--the family car- 289 auto no PS or PB. Minnesota has a farm license at age 15 but for farm use only and no night driving.

Passed 1st time in a 66 Plymouth Belvedere. Driver's ed was with a 67 Belvedere so that went really smooth! IIRC, couldn't get your license in Texas until 16 unless you applied for hardship but you could get your learner's permit at 15.

63 Corvair, 4 Speed. Passed first time

Never really "tested" per se.
About 12 of us drove to the DMV the morning of our test. We were not allowed to drive personal vehicles (school thing). I drove the Driver Ed's Instructor's El Camino with about 6 guys in the back while he drove the schools "official " Driver Ed car (4dr Malibu). The Trooper watched me go around the block at least twice, and finally parallel parked in front of the place. He immediately called me out on the passenger thing, but asked me if that thing was mine. I said no, first time I ever drove it, signed mine first.
I was 16, first try

Passed at 16, been racing go karts and motocross since I was 12 so the test wasn't a biggie. The Trooper didn't like the fact that I'm a left footed brake guy, no matter if its auto or not, something I picked up racing (power braking). Took the test in a 1960 Olds 98 4 door land yacht, 425 cubes, automatic. Geez what a boat....

Being a farm kid in Minnesota back in 1964, I had lots of driving experience early on with my dad's truck and other farm equipment. I took the test at 15 in my brothers 57 Ford convertible. I think I had a score of 78 or something like that. The guy knocked off some points for not using the two and ten position on the wheel but it was enough to pass. I never did master that rule. I took drivers education in High School the next year because it helped lower insurance costs.

1973 Roadrunner. 16 years old in 1979 Failed a old man gave me the test. Not long later a 78 Chevy 6cyl floor shift granny gear 4 spd and passed. I think it was all about the car.

I took Drivers Ed the next year too to lower insurance rates. 69 Cutlas. 350. Green green green. Single legger. Instructor let me take it to the school district maint for a bath and fuel. If he only knew. One day we went out Old 22 in the winter. We went under an overpass. Icy due to shade. Went into a 4 wheel drift and dam near got killed. Idiot driving lied about knowing how. I was in the back seat with a female classmate and was distracted. Those were the Signal 30 movie days. Some of the girls cried in class. I was happy to console them.

I took mine in my parents' '76 Datsun B210, 4 speed, because it was easier to parallel park than their '77 Ford Ranch Wagon.

I drove a 1980 Plymouth Horizon. My dad had it for a few days when his regular company car was in the shop.
Did I pass? Heck yeah....I'm a winner. I pass ALL of my tests. Driving tests, Urine tests, blood tests, every one.

I got my driver's license about 3 weeks after I turned 16 (earliest I could get my permit). I took the test in a 77 or 78 Plymouth Volare station wagon similar to what is shown below. BUT, it was really hot AND it had A/C! It was busy the day I went, and when the sweaty trooper came in to the cold car he sighed in relief and said "I think I'll take you around twice!". I laughed and said he could take me around three times if he passed me.

I passed with a smile from the trooper. About 2 months after that I bought my 73 Road Runner.

I had drivers training as a class my freshman year of high school. If you got a B or higher in the class, you didn't have to take the driving test, only the written test. Passed the first time.
My situation was almost the same. End of my junior year in H.S. (1981) Didn't have to take the driving test if you scored 90% or higher on the written. I scored 89%, asked the drivers ed instructor if I could slide by, he said yes. Got my first automotive ticket violation within next 30 or 60 days, can't remember which. Recieved a ticket for squealing tires in front of my buddy's house after dropping him off for the night (midnight). The tire noise woke half of his family up, the cop lights and siren the rest. They had quite the view as I was told later on. Not a great start for 16 yr old, lol. My new license at the time in Iowa had full privileges. No work or school restrictions. The car in question was my big brothers 1970 Olds Delta 88 Royale 2dr hardtop. 455 two barrel with a one wheel peel. Looked like this one but dark green: http://smclassiccars.com/oldsmobile/469189-1970-oldsmobile-delta-88-coupe-royale-455.html

Passed first time at age 15 driving a '64 Pontiac Catalina. Parallel parking a boat with no power steering was fun.
