Hello All. I'm a new member here, but I've been on the Abodies section for a couple of years. I was just looking to get an opinion on my car to see what it might be worth. Here we go:

The car is a 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner (numbers matching) with the HiPo 400 and a 727 slapstick automatic. It has either an 8-3/4" or Dana rear end (I believe it has the Dana), but I know it is a 100% factory drivetrain.

On the exterior, it is finished in a metallic B5 blue (paint job is about 5 years old, with minimal flaws due to driving it). All of the bodywork has been done and there is no rot. It has the engine call-outs (White) on the hood and a white strobe stripe over the back half of the roof. The front half has a white vinyl top on it. The rallye wheels were refinished with new paint, original trim rings and center caps. All four wheels are covered with P235/60R15 BFGoodrich radial T/As, and I have the stock spare tire in the trunk. I will try to upload a picture soon.

The interior has been refinished as necessary. The rear seat is all original with only one or two minor cracks (due to use). The front seats have been recovered in the original pattern white vinyl. The carpet and dash cap are all new (black). All of the rallye gauges work except the clock, no tach. The white patterned headliner is new and is holding up perfectly. All of the interior panels have been washed and repainted as needed (White). The trunk mat is new.

The engine was blueprinted and rebuilt, 0.030 over, with KB hypereutectic pistons, a stock grind cam with new lifters, edelbrock performer intake, 750 cfm carb, and stock numbers matching manifolds. The A/C and all of the asscoiated parts have been rebuilt or bought new and reinstalled. The exhaust is all new with Walker Hemi mufflers and the chrome machine gun tips (orange cores).

So, without seeing a picture (yet), what do you all think it might be worth? Feel free to ask questions and I appreciate the input.

-Mike

It's not worth a plug nickel i'll take it off your hands so you don't have it taking up space LOL. That is a very nice car you got as far as worth i don't have a clue why would you sell something like that.

roadrunner

looks nice,i would say $17,000-$19,000 i have one just like it but black bench seat.thinking about selling?

Oxy, Yes it is the factory B5 metallic blue. I'm using the same paint code on a 73 Swinger of mine and it looks a little darker. I think the hues change depending on who is mixing the paint.

And I haven't quite decided if I want to sell it or not. I know I will kick myself after. It's an absolute blast to drive, but I'm just not sure I have the room for two classic cars plus my daily driver. I'm also 23 so I'm really trying to get out of my parents house, and this could serve as a sizeable portion of a downpayment on a house if I were to sell it. I was just looking to see what it might be worth.

Thanks all for your input. I'll leave this open for more comments (or offers, lol)

Not being able to look it over and see more details, I'd say the current estimates you have of $15K - $18K are about right. I just paid about $9K for a '72 roadrunner with pretty much the same build but a non numbers 440 in it needing body work and paint. So, as it appears as though yours does not require welding, paint AND is numbers matching, I'd say that price range is about right.

Hopefully you'll be able to accomplish what you wish without selling it, if not, best of luck lining up the right buyer.

Not being able to see and look over the undercarrage ie: undercoat everywhere, lack of detailing. Condition of the brake lines, fuel lines, hardware, leaks, apparance etc... Im gunna set it at 12k. I say this because to make it right, all of that needs to be adressed. And if its a #'s match 400 , than its a 8 3/4"

Everybody catch that age.....23. Poor fella has to be burdened with a car like that.
Envy here!!!!!

If you're looking for more room in your garage, just park it in mine. I have lots of room, and promise I'll take real good care of it,LOL. Beautiful car, but I will agree that a house is a better investment than a vehicle, although not as much fun. Depending on how clean it is under the hood/chassis, I'd value it between $15-18, but like the saying "only worth as much as someone is willing to pay". In this economic nightmare it's anyones guess, good luck with whatever you decide.

Would anyone else recommend hiring a professional classic car appraiser for this? The difference between $15k and $12k is huge. Might be worth it to spend a couple hundred$ to be sure you are not leaving money on the table. Theres nothing I HATE MORE then selling a car to the first guy that sees it! It means I asked too little!
