when did a jeep become a Mopar?

No slap with the one I had and yeah, gas mileage was 16 on the average but anything over 60 mpg would plummet.

It was in the first few months of 1994 production year only. They fixed it quick.

Dad always drove Ramblers. He had a couple 232's that went well over 150,000 rounds and he was one of those "change oil once a year whether it needs it or not" kind of guys.

Wasn't Jeep owned by AMC at the time? I heard that ChryCo was mainly interested in the electronic fuel injection system that AMC developed and AMC was looking for someone to buy them out......so it was a marriage made in hell.....?? If that was true, I think it worked out ok. Wasn't particularly crazy about the Hall effect ignition system but it was what it was and it seemed to work pretty good but having Jeep part of the brand didn't hurt anything.

Chrysler had a failed fuel injection system in 1958 https://www.allpar.com/cars/desoto/electrojector.html Was watching Uncle Tony about the fuel injection. Pretty sure there is only one running example of this car.

Chrysler offered AMC Eagle brand vehicles for a few years before phasing them out. Anyone who thinks Mopar buying AMC was a bad idea, has no clue. Jeep has been the best asset Chrysler ever aquired.

IMO, you're right. We brought in people from all over that were with AMC, thin the herd, then cut people and plants. When Chrysler was in trouble many came to buy jeep, it by itself was worth billions. With out it Chrysler would have folded. Then all that would have been left would have been, the minivan, trade mark on the hemi and at that time bury the truck to reduce competition.

Fix It Again Tony (Ferrari, Alpha etc.)
most JEEPS have MoPar drivetrain now too
have for a long time

Chrysler also used the AMC 2.5 four cylinders in Dakotas replacing the Chrysler ohc 2.5.

"MOtor" and "PARts". Mopar is the OEM parts division of the corporation. The cars and trucks are all Mopar due to the fact they all contain Mopar or OEM parts. The term "Mopar" has come to be a reference to the go fast days of yesterday and today. I drive a Mopar, Sounds good!!

Ford is FoMoCo.....and Chebbys are BM I mean GM but people who drive the high performance ChryCo cars just call all the ChryCo line Mopars. Remember the Mopar stickers? Seems like I remember one saying 'powered by Mopar' over 50 years ago.

Heck, Chrysler built a factory and cranked out B-29s and engines for them among many other maker's stuff.
FoMoCo isn't their parts division and neither is GM.
We are talking about Chrysler built vehicles being named after the parts division.
