Where to start on my seats?

I guess I am at a loss on where to start on my seats and how i should go about fixing the fronts and rear. 1969 Coronet 500. Do i need new springs/steel? Just new foam and covers?

any help on the process and steps will be very welcome. also, suggestions on where to purchase new covers and foam?

Strip the seats down to the frames first to inspect the springs and steel. You definitely need new foam and covers. Legendary Auto Interiors is the good for them parts, though Classic Industries is good too. If you do it yourself, let the covers warm up in the sun first to make installation easier.

The fella's are right. Covers and foam for sure. You may need some springs or repairs. Clean and paint is usually done as well. I saw replacement springs for sale somewhere but I can't remember where. Oh, plan ahead. Orders through Legendary usually take a few months to process.

If money is no object, just order the works from Legendary or one of their vendors and watch the videos, and then wait several months for the package to arrive. If you want to save money, you can wait for one of their sales 2 or 3 times a year. And you can buy the burlap, muslin, etc from "other online sources". Don't cheap out on the molded foam though, lots of reviews say Legendary is the best.

I had my seat frames sandblasted, they were very rusty, then repaint, yours may or may not need that. Check for broken springs, usually the driver's bottom, you can usually tell by the way the seat feels when sitting on it if a spring is broken. Almost impossible to repair, have to replace the spring. There is molded foam available for bucket seats, but you may need to buy a universal foam kit also, to get the rest of what you need to recover your front and back seats. Hog ring pliers and hog rings , get at a farm supply store. Yes, can take up to a year to get yours seat covers. You can do this, the end result is very rewarding!

I found that the “zig zag” thicker sections of Mopar seat springs are still available as “couch replacement springs” on EBay…damn near identical & available in different lengths. You may need to “de-arch” the new repair springs (by hand) a little bit

START by watching every reupholstering video on You Tube you can stand. Even if it does not include your brand/model of seats. You will learn how to refurbish original foam, if possible, and when to replace. Yours appears to need replacement. Anyway you will need to take lots of pixs before you start and how to save as much as possible during disassembly in order to recreate/duplicate the restoration process when replacing with new foam and covers. Im self taught, and you can do yours too.

the website lists "up to 77 days" on the lead time. that seems cool.

also looks like if i can re-use my frames then its going to cost me $2500 for all of it.

Done a number of my cars.
Buy the good pliers and rings.
A few things I learned:

I bought the straight and 90 degree pliers, never used the 90.
If the old covers have the metal rod inserts save and reuse in the new covers.
If the original foam is in very good shape, and molded, consider reusing. Mine was not, but I 'carved' foam to match.
Burlap works well, but I also went to a craft store and bought a 3" wide burlap roll. Hog ringed it on like the old school beach folding chairs. Provided more better support.
Put seat covers out in sun for as long as possible.
Bench seat bottom, flipped over on large blanket covered table, board on top, large plastic ratchet clamps, made pulling the cover over it too easy.

If you're not in a hurry Legendary does run a 20% off sale a couple of times a year. Unfortunately they just ran the one for the holidays that ended in early January so it will probably be a little while before they run it again. Shipping was also discounted by 50% if you spend $2500+ I believe the number is.

I just did my Oldsmobile seats this past summer using PUI upholstery and I wound up having a table inside and another outside in the sun.

Your rear seat back rest does not appear to match the rest of the upholstery. To me, it looks to be from a Belvedere. I think the '67's had those medallions.

i think you may be right. recovering should bring it back to the coronet correctness. i assume the foam is generally the same.

The legendary site, although somewhat difficult to navigate, is a great place to see what patterns, colors and grains were available as OEM for your car, as well as potential upgrades/changes.

I'm currently considering putting 1968 Sport Satellite upholstery in my 1967 wagon.
I like the pattern better, it comes in the same colors, and it is offered in both bench and buckets, if I decide to use a pair I have that look similar to OEM.

i have been looking, i cant find a belvedere with those kind of seat, 67 or otherwise. they had a single long medallion per seat. the gtx and coronet of those era didnt have that.

maybe i just couldnt find a picture of a Belvedere that had it. looks like two medallions per seat.
