My 426 wedge clone has the over the counter Mopar distributer 3690201 without vac advance and the timing is locked out. I prefer to run a vac advance unit and not one with the timing locked. What dist/brand would you recommend. I'd like to have it plug in and keep my electronic box with vac advance.

Might want to consider a FireCore distributor. Very well built with easily adjustable curves. I've been quite pleased with the one I have on my car that replaced the one that came with the Mopar Electronic ignition conversion kit. My experience was that the Mopar unit developed some play / slop after a few years of use.

I have also used several Firecore distributors, and have no complaints.

I looked up the Firecore. Looks good. Says direct plug in. What is involved with the mechanical advance curving procedure?

They have slots you adjust with a phillips screwdriver like originals. Mallory keys work with them as well.

I used a Summit dist, which came with adjustable vac adv. If you intend on connecting the VA to manifold vacuum [ a veeeery smart move ], you should have an adj VA unit. Whatever brand, the cenrti curve will likely need dialling in for your combo.

That Firecore looks like what I want. Now just to decide if I want to bother. Someone wanted to buy my Mopar 3692021 tach drive dist a long time ago on here. Maybe I need to look into selling it.
