Who can rebuild 67 Coronet AC Car Heater Valve?

I think there is someone in Hemmings that advertises to do so. Pick up an issue. There used to be a lot of old school rebuilding services for about anything.

Not sure if Jim Tucker is still rebuilding them. He did mine back in 2014. He is in Valley Center CA. Try him. 760 749 3488

I just bought one from this guy on eBay. Rebuilding only car valves is what he does most. I just bought one for my ‘65 Coronet through eBay as he had one built and ready to go. He did a great job. Whole unit was glass beaded looked 98% new. I was given a tracking number before end of day one of my purchase with new oring and gasket. Zero leaks.

I went to a swap meet today and a guy was selling an A/C heater control valve he apparently bought for a 68 or 69 Charger. I asked him if it would fit a 66, and he wasn't sure. I asked him how much and he said $20.00. I said for that price I will take a chance! It appears the only difference is that my water outlets are horizontal and these are vertical. Does anyone know if this will work?

Looks like who ever rebuilt it put the outlets in 90 degrees off. should be fine.
The main connection is on the opposite side of the plate, so it was not a mistake. I was never sure how these worked, but it appears to just be an on/off valve. I have had issues from time to time getting my heater to work. I think it is worth trying. I can make the hoses work.

Can anyone tell me where the coil on the end of the wire fits? I have vertigo and am not great crawling under the dashboard

In this hole on the very bottom of the heater box.

Thanks so much for the picture. I just examined the valve again and it will definitely work. I also just realized that the temperature cable attaches to an arm on the valve. Hopefully that is accessible from the engine bay when you pull the plate back from the firewall?

Yes. You will be able to deal with the temp cable when you pull the valve off of the firewall. I think you would also be able to turn the tubes 90 degrees if it was needed. Good luck

I tackled the swap today. The 60 year old spring clamps on the bypass hose fought me a bit. I had to cut the old sensor coil wire and use it as a fish wire to pull the new coil wire through. I also had to remove the glove box and the under dash heater cover so I could see what was hanging up. It's all back together again. Hopefully the new valve works better. The old one was pretty corroded.
