So, by modern I mean one controlled by computers. With the exception of an ignition control module. I know I'm a rare breed, only 48 years old. But, all my vehicles are old school! My newest is a 1984 CJ 7 with a Weber carb and GM HEI ignition. I drive that every day for work. My '71 C-10 Chevy also has HEI ignition and a quadrajet carb. The GTX goes further back to points ignition and a six-barrel carb. My Harley doesn't even have a battery! It runs on a magneto and generator. I only need the generator if I want to have lights. Which, of course I do. Who else is stuck in the past with no want or need to update? I think I can fix anything on these vehicles other than an automatic transmission. Which I probably could, but I have no desire to learn that skill. Who's with me?

I just now own something in the 2000's finally with my 2012 Challenger that I bought used.

I recently sold my new Jeep Gladiator back to the dealership. I kind of draw the line at "No TV screens in the dash" and must have 3 pedals.

I do, but for a purpose. The wife has a modern vehicle since she, rightfully so, wants it to be an appliance. I drive an Acura with almost 300k for commuting, but again it's an appliance and if/when it breaks, I'm not fixing it.

Beyond that, nothing but simple vehicles for me. I tried to go new and bought a 2020 Ram Longhorn, but it didn't last long. I sold the Ram, bought a '74 W200, and couldn't be happier. I dread working on anything new, whereas I enjoy all the older vehicles. They're all reliable and no matter what breaks, I'm back up and running with minimal cost.

Newest car I own is 2016 Chrysler 200 ( wifes car )
My truck is a 2012

Both have their fair share of electronic gizmos

As much as I would like to own all old school
I just dont think its practical for the comfort of modern DD vehicles

My Satellite is all drum brakes , points igntion etc etc . But most Definity not the most comfortable car on day long drives in hot weather

My only driver is a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a stroker 4.6, custom LS coils, stand-alone ECU (rusEFI), and is in excellent condition. Does that count?

It absolutely does, because I guarantee you can fix anything on it quickly. My son has an '89 RX7 with an LS1 and, although it's modern/computer controlled, same deal... anything breaks, we'll have it back going cheap and easy.

"Modern" to me really starts when you're talking communication networks and multiple computers communicating and relying on each other. That takes away the simple aspect to me.

My daily is 4x4 89 Nissan Hardbody with 280K. It does have a computer to run the engine and throttle body fuel injection but those could be replaced with a distributor and carb if i felt the need.
Best thing is it's paid off.

dailys are 2001 and 2002
Same here. Wife's 2007 Lexus bit the dust last week, so I took the opportunity to go backwards, with a 2001 Honda Civic, old lady car with 47,000 miles. My 2002 Lexus ES300, which has 237,000 miles after 14 years of ownership is going to my granddaughter for her first car, and I needed a replacement. I got a deal I couldn't refuse on a 2007 Lexus LS460. This will be my third 2007 model, previously had a 2007 Chrysler 300c (my last new car), wife's 2007 IS250, and a 2007 Nissan Sentra. Never owned anything newer, and don't plan to.

I was daily driving 30 year old Mopars in the 90s. Takes me about two decades to accept new technology.

I was still daily driving a 71 D100 into the 2000's, but then I switched to commuting on a motorcycle for the cost and convenience. I bought an 2005 Ram in 2010 but it did not become my daily until 2019... and now I've upgraded even further to a 2021 Ram. Once you have comfort at your fingertips I don't think there is any going back.

my 1999 Dakota SLT 4x4 is 26 y/o now, not exactly new,
but OBD2 & Computer/EFI

isn't 25 years old, considered a classic  only 62k miles

I have both, my 68 RM23 RR, I love it
but;
with ever worsening Calif. ****-swill ethanol fuel/gas
it's becoming a PITA to keep going too, eats rubber & aluminum
& that car has a lot of both

I also bought a 2020 Launch Edition Gladiator Rubicon Limited,
loaded, full leather w/spec. red threads everywhere, for the Launch edition
& lockers front & rear, Dana 44's frt/rear, dertachable sway bars on a button
full Trail Rated 4x4, w/special wheels & tires 17"x 33.4", Pentastar v6 305hp
& full on computer controlled & electronic trans/TF 8 speed
heads up display, killer stereo & NV system, he doesn't even use (doesn't care)
but no clutch to have to worry about, with him driving it, much smaller rig...

10k# old-er dually truck either...
Now, so I don't have to worry too much about him driving my old
dually 1 ton 6 speed 4x4 truck anymore (traded in the)
2002 F350 4x4 6 speed PS Diesel dually,
that he put extra 150k+ on it, used it like a DD, it was never bought for that &
it was supposed to be my tow rig, for my trailers & travel trailer/RV...
(sold all of them)

Dad's he's 88, it was getting way too much for him, & cost to maintain it
& I was afraid he was gonna' take out someone else/or several people
while driving it...

My newest vehicle is a 97 Dodge diesel....but....remarried a little over a year ago that has a 22 Chevy Colorado Z71. Nice pep and the mileage can be good if you keep your foot out of it.

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a newer Challenger in my driveway! Hope you like it. My uncle was a die-hard Chevy guy until he rode in a Challenger. Now, he owns one!

I recently rode with my sister in her new Kia. The entire dash was one flat screen! All the way from the drivers door to about where the passenger seat starts. Pretty wild, but not something I'd like to look at all the time.
