Talked to a WWII Widow pilot years ago. He said a common tactic they would use at night is come up on a Betty bomber frame their lower six o’clock, get up under the belly, raise the .050 Val’s to max elevation and fire a burst through the belly. He said that would pretty much cut them in half.
