Sweden, which was not involved in WWII, nevertheless had developed a large air-force, particularly because of all the fighting happening in nearby nations.

By 1950 they had developed their own jet fighter, the SAAB 29 Tunnan.

While more modern fighters were designed, this plane still remained in service until the middle 1970s.

Many years ago I owned a Turbo Saab up in KS. At the annual safety inspection the mechanic came back after a while and said to me - I have to check the fan belt for wear and I know it’s got to have one but I’ve been staring at it and I can’t find it? True story.
