Who Likes Aircraft ?

The Fokker Dr.I Triplane was extremely popular in culture, mostly because Manfred von Richthofen championed it. He liked the aircraft's maneuverability, but it was slow, and had manufacturing and design problems. Despite how often it is shown in movies and pictures, it was in production for only a little over half a year with only 320 being built.

In contrast, the replacement bi-plane, the Fokker D.VII had around 3,300 produced in half a year in 2018, before the end of the war.
 
Way back in 1958, my parents bought their first house in Richmond, B.C.

Because it was under the flight path of the Vancouver airport, no bank or credit union would lend a mortgage on the property. So the seller ended up carrying the mortgage himself, allowing my parents to get the house.

My dad was always taking pictures, here's one of the earliest jets (DC-8) passing overhead in 1961. Always used to hearing thundering DC-6, Super Constellations and the like, he just had to grab his camera when he heard a Jet passing over...
