Recently I got my 23 and me DNA results....BIG surprise, I am 99.7 % European White guy.
I do love spicy food though.
Most Mexican restaurants around here seem to cater to the mildest of taste buds. It is a sad thing. I like it with some kick. The Wife does too.
I don't like it HOT just for the sake of being hot though....It has to have flavor.
I'm making a meal tonight I have titled "Butt Fire Tacos".
Jalapenos, Habaneros, onions and an an online copycat recipe for Jimboy's Tacos seasoning.
Jimboy's...Popular here in CA but maybe not so well known elsewhere.
I know the food is good if I am sweating while eating it.
Oddly, only the LEFT side of my face sweats from hot food.
Do you like it spicy too ?

Like you, spicy and flavorful I like, Hot for the sake of Hot... No Thanks...

I like it with a kick but not burning my mouth. Getting to old for that. Reaserch shows its healthy for you.

If it burns going in its not prepared right. The flaming a** hole when it come out is required to pass the hot and spicy test.

I am finding myself reaching for the bottle of hot sauce at every meal now, if not, the food is almost tasteless. It probably is a consequence of my tolerance to "spicy" having built up over the years (especially living in Mexico). I would hate to think "old age" has just burned out my taste buds.

I like spice with a good taste. The peeper plant brand makes a real good garlic hot sauce I love!

Don’t like hot spicy - but spice comes in a million flavors. I like a food that exudes a variety of flavors that titillate the tongue so to speak. I tend to think hot kind of spoils the other flavors of the food. Just my opinion of course.....

I want flavor, but you know it’s good when you’re sweating. With my wife pregnant, she can’t partake and it’s not the same if it’s not cooked into the food. I have a shelf of hot sauce and we use fresh peppers from the garden. My mother in law cans a mix of peppers my father in law calls “cowboy candy”. My wife won’t eat it. I love it. Our local Mexican restaurant brings me their homemade hot sauce from the back, since they don’t serve anything even close to how I like it.

I like spicy but not hot for the sake of hot. Indian food is terrific, but in the same way that American (or Canadian) Mexican food isn’t the same as what they actually eat in Mexico, you need to find a proper Indian restaurant.

I love hot/spicy.... but with age comes acid reflux..... so not so much anymore....

Yeah...Just the left side of my face sweats from the food. I'm not sure what that means!

I like hot
I feel that it's good for you....gets the heat pump'n, lungs breathing and wakes you up. Most of the cultures with longer lives, do a lot of hot foods. I've seen too many "old people" that didn't condition their metabolism correctly in their youth and can only eat jello. I've had very few things that I "couldn't eat" and perhaps a few that I "shouldn't have eaten ...but I believe that you must condition the point of exit as well.

I've never had a parasite living in my ***.

Eating spicy foods could lead to dementia, study finds

The study, which appears in the journal Nutrients, analyzed 15-year data from over 4,500 Chinese adults age 55 and above, and saw a more rapid cognitive decline — double the average risk — in those who regularly consumed more than 50 grams of chili per day. Notably, those with slimmer builds experienced an even steeper decrease in memory and cognition.

Some foods really need spice! Chili, tacos, anything with tomato sauce. To me tomato sauce just makes hot taste great.
