Getting ready for a intake install and was hoping to atleast peak at the cam but I found this ... so how odd is it
318 , j heads removed the 78 4 barrel for air gap intake . Photo wont load any how there is a self made shield with each push rod feed threw ??? Shoty work or commonly done

They were available from Chrysler and aftermarket. Most likely still are.
 
Looks like the Moroso unit I put in my Duster when I built the W2 engine for it.
 
Never seen one OEM, but have seen aftermarket ones. They are used to keep the hot oil off of the bottom of the intake. They are called "Oil Splash Shield" IIRC...
 
Okay thanks for the feed back it seem to be someone did a decent build at some point . Those taps on top are to keep pressure against the manifold correct ? Should I pull them up a bit for the new one
 
Yes, they should provide tension to the underside of the manifold to prevent the tray from rattling around causing a noise. If they don't hit, tweak them until they do.
