Id like to add an autometer oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge. Can i splice into the sensor on the waterpump for the water gauge and oil sending unit on the back of the block for the oil gauge.. I used the spare port by the heater hoses for an electric fan temperature sensor. Thanks

You more than likely need the matching sensor/sending units for your gauges if they are the none mechanical type. If thats the case, then yes you can tap into the same places.

Going electrical but wanna keep the dash gauges working

There are 2 locations for oil at the back center of the block, install in one of those, the other will already have the factory sender in it.

Is your temp sender on the driver side or passenger side of the water pump housing?

Try the search feature as well.

Passenger side. Thanks.

Anywhere else i can tap in for a sending unit for the water sensor. Side of block? I have a fan temp control sending unit in the port by the heater hoses and i spent huge $ getting my factory gauges to work so i wanna keep the sending unit on the front of the water pump. Thanks

The only other thing I have ever seen people use are the heater hose locations themselves, not using the heater, losing the hoses and that opens up two ports for a sensor. But if you're trying to keep the all stock look then no not without adding an adapter of some sort like inline with a hose or using a stat housing neck that has a drill, tapped fitting in it.

Some examples

Looking for housing with ports on them as well

If I were you, I would keep the oil pressure dummy light and add a mechanical oil pressure gauge, which would use an oil capillary tune to feed it. This is the most sure fire way to be sure you are reading actual oil pressure. It also avoids the problem of one sending unit going bad and wiping out all of your information.

Water temperature, well as was said above, the new gauge likely needs its own sender with its own resistance profile, there should be multiple locations that you can add an additional sender.

Are electric gauges just as good as mechanical gauges. I know with mechanical you are getting a kinda real life reading. I would think with the quality of the autometer stuff nowadays the electrical stuff would be pretty darn good

They are close enough to be sold as an accurate gauge, though i prefer the mechanical myself.

I think you two are confused.

There are 3 ports of the right size, 2 are the heater hose ports the other is plugged 'thats where he needs to install the autometer sensor'... below those sits the smaller original temp sensor port.

If had seen any of the late 70's or early 80's smog era stuff from chrysler and the rest for that matter, you wouldn't be so surprised.

He has electric fans I think I read. So, factory port and the extra port is used already. I have the same set up.

If that's the case, then I'd remove the sender for the electric fan, install the sender for the autometer, then splice the electric fan into that line. You can then use the Autometer gauge to double check the operation of the electric fan. If necessary, I believe he can tweak the on/off points of the fans as needed.

This is what he said, unless I read it wrong and I hadn't been drinking yet so doubt I was confused haha

I was thinking more of something along these lines so you could try to keep the stock appearance, measure the hole distance and compare you might find one of these applications works for you.

Pretty fancy, Big Man. I might just use one of those to get my OEM gauge working one of these days (while keeping my autometer).

That meziere one is exactly what i want. Gotta find somebody at work tmrw with an ebay account

Yep that one is the only one I know of that will work on the RB big blocks, **** now I want one for myself lmao!
