first mistake ..... orderd parts before i took the ill mill apart. ..... second .... guessing it was stock. .... just a mid 80's 318 U 163 casting heads nothing out of wack. figured id find rotaters and not much room guide to keeper. wrong again .... no rotaters and il bet a full inch guide to retainer room .... i move on .... pull the head .... woops .. valves slap on every slug. ... and there .040 over. .... piston's didn't look wrong ... just something was strange. .... strait edge ... .020 below deck. awwa ****. never seen a smog 318 that close let alone flat top's. so now i get to send 1200 bucks of stuff back to summit and rethink the whole build. she always did run strong and had a tone to the pipes but not enuff to make ya think anything of it. o and ya timeing chain did go away. im going to put a dial on it tomarow and see just what i got and take a better pic of the deck to slug. i got in a hurry and payed the price .... don't do that
