I'm looking for some stuff to help you out. I've got my track sheet, made an etching of my plate, and am searching some info. Your original color is Chestnut Metallic, both roof and body. Cool color! Where you have an "8" under the 7,I have a "9". My middle #'s read 2 1 382,my bottom row reads 0782 342 P4R MM 1. Mine was originally a 318 w/AC model,Grey(Silver) Metallic,red/white interior,2.94 open rear axle, power steering and power brakes. Give me a little time;I've got more stuff to look through. In the meantime,if anyone else can help?

At what plant was the car built?

What's the missing number from this VIN 344?******

0310 = Scheduled production date of March 10th, 1964
7164 = Remainder of sales order number

342 = Plymouth V8; Sport Fury; Two door hard top
P4U = Interior trim code = premium level - bucket seats; in vinyl, copper in color
VV1 = exterior paint color = chestnut metallic; car painted all one color

The car was built in california. 3445 vin
Need to know what engine was in the car?
Have the original automatic console with tach and shifter that will go back in the car.
Putting a 71 - 440 backed by the 727.
Painting very dark blue with black interior.
Have 17 inch torque thrust rims with new Hankook tires.
Most likely will sell when completed.

69Classic;I have the code "832" on my track sheet in the "Build Code" box for engine. I know it was a 318 car;I have the original mill sitting in my garage. Hope this helps. Have you found a track sheet for yours?

It seems it was a 361 engine that was in this car from the factory.
Don't know how the guy knows this but thats what he tells me.

The 361 was optional in the Sport Fury.

The layout of tags from that era differ by plant meaning decode info for a car built at Lynch Road may or may not apply to a car built at LA.

I don't know how to decode a 64 LA built car tag but here is some WAG and take it for what it's worth info....Typically, standard engines were not coded on the tag but optional engines were. IF that were the case for an LA built car, one would expect to find a 04 or 4 code under one of the capital letters indicating a 361 engine. Also common would be 06 or 6 indicating a 383 engine. I don't see that either.

Common decode items listed on tags were automatic transmissions, a 5, which could be your A/5 or L/5 code; radios, which could be accounted for by one of the 1 (AM) or the 3 (AM/FM) codes; heating and cooling which could be a 1 for A/C or a 5 for heater only; delivery info, which could be your W/1 code.

IMO a factory correct copper/copper car would be an easier sell.
