Hey guys I got a deal in the small cap Hei proform dist. Its the two wire type.....no instructions....can anyone help me with the wiring on this where does the Red wire go and where does the black wire go??

Do an on line search with your product and part no. Usually the manufactor will have install instructions on their webpage.

PM sent. Hope it helps some. Maybe post a picture or two. The confusing part is that they're supposed to be one wire hookup. Tap the harness before the ballast resistor (then throw the ballast resistor into the garbage, you don't need it anymore. Same with the box and ecu). Make extra sure you're getting a full 12 V with the key on, thats very important. By the way, this is also a good place to get juice to your electric choke. That power wire should be the only wire you need to run the thing, the ground is in the harness that exits the body of the dist and plugs into the cap/coil.

WELL...I would love to but I bought it from a flake on ebay....its a proform STYLE small cap HEI that is supposed to have an external coil.....the red lead I am sure goes to a 12v keyed source and the black I am ASSUMING goes to the coil....but what side? and how will removing the ballast resistor and other garbage effect the coil operation?

The external coil setups have two wires...red to the pos side of the coil, black to the neg. I believe your's is equivalent to ProComp's model #7001. Use that number in your Google search and there will be lots of information available as to wiring the dist as well as adding an MSD box and parts info. Good luck with it Jim. Go crimp some eyelets onto those wires, spin the nuts and light that muther up!.
