After a few years of enjoying my Charger, my Mopar mania is growing worse. I'm starting to think about getting another one. So this is the first step... asking around, seeing what's out there, and what the price range is...

So hey, for those of you who know much more than me... can you give me the lowdown on the 71-72 Satellite vs. same years Road Runner? Styling, engines offered?

I'm definitely looking for a 4 speed. I want another stick shift car before I forget how to drive one. :) Are 71-72 4 speeds rare? I'm not looking to drive anything that will set any speed records, a 318 would be fine for my humble needs.

So there you go. I'm starting to look around for a 1971-72 318 Satellite/RR 4 speed in good shape. By "good shape", I mean no major rust issues, bodywork problems, terrible paint jobs, but far from perfect. I'm all about driving my cars, not fixing them up for car shows. Any clue what I'm looking at as far as price?

Oh man. Getting pumped to look around at cars. Am I ever going to own enough vehicles?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

if youre gonna get another one, you might as well go full tilt balls to the wall. i read in a thread that your car...altho nice...aint a speed demon and as powerful as you would like it to be. i suggest a 440...mildly built...not too hypo to the point that youre always working on it.

as far as prices...i really dont know what you have to spend, or how much work youre willing to do to it....thats gonna have to be your call.

4 speeds are a BLAST to drive....altho all of my cars are automatics, i wish at least one was a stick . this is exciting...just do your homework. judging by your charger...you know what to look for! good luck !

Good point, tpodwdog. OK, I'm open to larger engines. My current 318 2bbl isn't fast, but do I really need the temptation?

Actually, I probably do. :headbang:

How about a 1971 plymouth satellite station wagon. They look great ......

I sure like your choice man, There a good looking car for sure!! Im just not with most i guess, not that huge of a fan with plum crazy, i like seeing others with it just to fancy for a country boy like me maybe! :)

I'm not that picky about the color. Plum Crazy is pretty sweet, but I'll take what I can get...

I've been seeing a lot of variation in the 71/72 market. I'm thinking the price soaring of the road runners drove a huge clone market, and now the number of clones is driving a lot of the market. It used to be the norm to see 71/72 road runners selling at about $11,000+ in any condition, and selling for $50,000+ restored, but I've been seeing more and more decent project cars being listed at $4k to $5k, and not selling for a long time, and I've seen some nice cars listing at under $20k. It looks like the guys who bought at the top of the market are still hoping to get that money back, but the guys who didn't are selling for what they can get.

If I were entering the market for a 71/72, I would look for a good project car, with lots of parts, in the $5k range.

There's an EV2 340 4 speed RR down here for 3K, needs lower quarters and some other lower body work, but looks original.

Was an ebay classified as well.

Oof! 24K is outta my price range. Looking for more of a daily driver with a few dings, under 10K.

Hmmm. Car was in "California-Ocean/Salt Water".

I live in CA, but I can't say I've ever driven my car in the ocean, or washed it with salt water. :)

You guys are great. Thanks for all the listings! Man, that Satty in CT is cool. Why does it have to be across the country from me?
