Hey guys I thought it would be interesting to tally up how many years of Mopar knowledge, experience , loving, driving, and working on our favorite breed of cars there is in our combined membership ranks. I'll post up an occasional tally along the way and don't worry about the number ... Just post it up :). If I should mod the idea PM me and I'll change it up if it's dumb idea I'll let is die.

I'll start .. 33, like our new young gun member Bobby, I started chasing a Mopar of my own when I was 15, but it took me a little longer. I was 16 when I got my first and have loved them ever since. I've worked on them off and on over the past 30 plus years but even when i was overseas and couldn't take the cars with me I read and kept up on the hobby and dreamed about them.

How about you?

How do you want to count off and on time? Like sometimes during my mil service I did not have a car or need one.

Great question. I did two tours overseas and couldn't take my old Mopars with me. Second time I had the Durango though. This is fairly informal and each can be his own judge

Where you still reading, bench racin', etc? Count it. You were expanding your knowledge :)

I have loved Mopars, especially roadrunners beginning in 1969. I was four years old and my uncle bought a 69 roadrunner and in 71 my baby sitters dad bought a Superbird. I knew there was something very special about these Mopars even then and my love grew throughout the years. I am now 48 so this love affair is now at 44 years and counting!

Yep, and every MOPAR mag I could get sent to me, even though everyone must have read them in route.
Then at least 37 years.

My first true mopar A 64 S.F.MW still have it (1970) Had several older plys. before it! A 47 Ply coupe with a J2 olds and B.M. hydro Collectively almost 44 years! I've owned nothing but mopars since 1970!

I got the love of cars from My dad..He was always fixing his old clunker of a car. He was a big fan of the Buick, ...I was Influenced by the movie Bullitt in 1968..And Been a Mopar man since.. Bought my first Mopar at the age of 15 in 1976...A 1971 Dodge charger R/T 440 magnum 4 spd....A self taught car mechanic... A Diesel specialist, worked my way up to Engine Builder.... Attended many diesel mechanic programs, a great program at GM Detroit engine, Allison transmission,Dana/Eaton Spicer, Power Trains,A/C,etc.....I have rebuilt the small to the big...Love the Detroit Diesel engine....

Probably 5-ish years of really reading and learning. 2 years of actual hands on with my car.

54 3/4 take away 16, carry the deimal point, divided by 3 X 8 and add a bunch of leap years and it equals out to 69.

Imagine that.

In 1964 my buddy's older brother bought a brand new 64 Polara 426w, 4sp, black/red. I was hooked. I would go down to his Texaco station just to stand around and drool over his car. I didn't own my own Mopar till I got back from the service in 69 and bought a used 65 Belvedere for $700. So if you count my reading, looking, wishing and dreaming time, I'm pushing 50 years.

43years... before that it was just amt or mpc models, or Aurora t-jet slot cars

Bought my '69 Formula S when I was 17, so lets say 34 years. Great thread. Any bets on the "total".? I'll guess 28,500. +- 1200..

Great idea 2059! I hadn't even thought of guessing the total but it would depend if we get max participation or not as to a total number but it will be big if we do. You guys brought it to just under 500 in the first 13 posts with numbers.

My first Mopar was a 1960 Dodge Dart /6 3 on the tree. It was eight years old and I was twenty. It was a good car, could have used a brake upgrade. Later that same year I was a passenger in a new purple GTX 4 seed conv.(that ride ended in a crash)and after riding in that power house I realized the /6 is not satisfactory for my inner self and it hit me...Dang!....I could'a had a V8. lol
