You could try Mopar Performance & buy directly, they have carb to pan 472's also, hard to get quickly though... Decent price... Never heard of that guy, but I'm in Calif. on the other side of the world...

Wow does this sound familiar! Sorry to hear someone else had a similar experience to mine. I purchased a 472 from Gozzymopar last summer and had similar results.
I called from the E-Bay listing and Jim told me that instead of buying it through E-Bay he would supply a quote and I would need to send a check in full to order the engine. No negative E-Bay feedback or Paypal dispute when it's done that way! I did ask about a few different options on the build and had to postpone my order for about 3 weeks due to an issue with the sale of my Harley after which Jim did honor his quote.

When the engine arrived, I had planned to use my own oil pan and intake, when I took the ones off that the engine that came with it along with the incorrect valvecovers, I also found metal grit and list of other concerns inside:

Scat connecting rods w/8740 bolts (not Eagle rods w/2000 ARP bolts as stated in E-bay listing and my quote)
No roller rockers as stated on build contract and in a phone conversation with Jim- When I pointed this out, I was told it was a mistake on the quote and I could have them for another $1100.
Pushrods were no where close to centered in the head holes
Grade 5 bolts in rocker stand assemblies
Large visible casting flaw in top of right side middle rocker stand
Standard Pioneer freeze plugs in block (not stainless or brass as stated in build contract)
Standard grade 5 bolts on cam gear (not ARP as stated in E-bay listing)
No oil slinger on crank
No splash shield on bottom of intake
Standard type water pump- not hi flow
Sealing washers left on sparkplugs, damaging sealing surface on tubes
Only single VC breather- E-bay pictures show dual breathers (Jim offered to sell me another one)
Engine not painted as outlined on contract
Incorrect valvecovers- were supposed to be chrome, I received black.
Didn't send the electronic ignition kit, had to debate on whether it was shipped or not. He did finally send it and paint to finish the painting the engine.

When I found that there were number of discrepancies from the quote/E-Bay listing and contacted Jim on multiple occasions the response was less than impressive. I was told that my engine had nothing to do what was in the E-Bay listing. Unfortunately, Gozzymopar is too far way to have returned the motor so basically I ended up with a bunch of parts and the additional time and money invested to make it right.

I can only say Caveat Emptor!

Wow, that's bad. Northbridge is about 30 miles from me & I'd be willing to check them out, but it sounds like there's no need to.

Lol...yep, no reason to waste time going there.

The internet age has brought lots of changes to our hobby, some good, some bad. I'd say info like this straight from your fellow gearheads is one of the best thing the internet has provided. 20 years ago you'd have bought off of some ad in the back of a magazine halfway across the country and had no idea....

I really feel for you guys it sucks being taken as was on a car some years back for over 22.000 dollars but i really had no chance of getting anything back..

If i was you all i would post this person on every mopar site to warn others i hate a thief or someone who miss leads others period.. ! That is what i did with the guy who ripped me off ... :)

Damn, when I first saw the price I thought I might have been screwed. I had a '74 "b" block bored and stroked to 499. makes 600 hp and 620 tq. I got 12500 into it. Glad I went the route I did. although if I knew I got screwed by that much, I'd be standing in someone's office, I don't care where it's at.

if you can find someone that you know that works for chrysler they can give you a number an you can get 25% off on mopar parts an motors. pretty good savings. i have saved a boat load so far.

Item 3 is the toughest one to prove since it usually requires internal documentation.

Hi, with all due respect, HOW TRUE is your statement? For example, if I knew someone who worked at Chrysler, is any capacity; salesman, clerk, janitor etc. they could get 25% off a Gen2 Hemi? The sell for about $18K, yet they could purchase it for about $13K?

And yes, I realize the prior post is 1 year old. :)

Personally I wouldn't but a bone for my dog off of E-GOUGE. I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF TWICE ONCE AS A SELLER AND ONCE AS A BUYER! For a grand total of over 2K! Nothing but scammers cruse Ebay. My 2 cents.

I wouldn't buy a crate motor from mopar either. Warranty or not. Build it yourself. That way you know whats inside.
