2014 4th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Make Your Picks and Light 'Em Up!

I'm glad we have some new blood playing this year, should make for an interesting season.. good luck to everyone

hopefully we can bring it home for FBBO this season

we have our work cut out for us, they're some really good players/pickers over on FABO thou

That's odd, those picks seem to have a Mopar slant to them.

That's OK, I never picked a non Mopar in PS. It hurt me in the points standing but just can't bring myself to pick a GM to win.

Here we go ! Good luck Guys!
TF- Antron Brown
FC- Matt Hagan
PS-Allen Johnson

Here's my early picks for 1st race Pomona Winter Nationals T/F Shawn Langdon , F/C John Force , P/S Allen Johnson , no bikes scheduled for Pomona

I'm sticking with my early picks still, they all had great test sessions, but so did these guys/gal too, Courtny Force, Robert Hight, Ron Capps & Antron Brown...

We pick up 2 new guys then?

Honestly, I haven't heard much about testing. I informed the family last night that the NHRA season starts this weekend and not to touch the "Autotune" on the TV! Sunday night WILL be spent watching the finals.

yeah Sat. 8:00-10:00 pm PST Qualifying on ESPN2 & Sun 5:00-8:00 pm PST elim. on reg. ESPN
Yeah I read in NationalSpeedSportNews.com site, they did a week long test NHRA approved, including tire & clutch sessions/practice test session with a bunch of F/C & T/F cars in Palm Beach, Fl., some new drivers getting passes under their belts, licensing etc. & working on race day routines etc.. allegedly some teams made as many as 40 passes, supposedly there was a mini test session in Phoenix with a few P/S teams too... I saw on Dragzine.com site IIRC

Getting close, anybody else jumping in??????

One more and we'd have a magnificent seven.)

Hackensack is about an hour east of me. I am near the Delaware Water Gap if you know where that is.

Circle K Winternationals qualifying leaders:

Q2
TF: Antron Brown, 3.731; Shawn Langdon, 328.70
FC: John Force, 3.966 @ 324.12
PS: Allen Johnson, 6.517 @ 212.53

Weather conditions were outstanding all day. A slight rain delay yesterday caused some of yesterdays schedule to be run today. That, and a few breakage issues delayed the start of Q2. Pomona has a sound curfew of 7PM so they were doing all they could to get Q2 Pro Qualifying in as they were getting close to the 7PM cutoff time.
At the start of Q2 for Funny Car: air temperature 62 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 28.99 inches, adjusted altitude 1,770 feet, track temperature 63 degrees. John Force ran his new National Record time and speed into a slight headwind!
At the start of Q2 for Top Fuel: Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 63 percent, barometer 29.02 inches, adjusted altitude 1,647 feet. Same slight headwind blowing straight up the track

The temps are forecast to be a few degrees higher today.

I hope you're all able to catch the TV coverage of qualifying. Ron Capps had a big "boomer" just after going through the lights on his Q2 pass. Blew the body into little pieces of carbon fiber - the biggest piece of the body came down in Jack Beckman's lane and punched a hole in the nose of his car. Capps was running an in-car camera that caught the explosion. They showed it on the big screens at the track - should be good to see on TV.
John Force ran two flawless passes during Q1 and Q2 - clean and straight down "Broadway". Jimmy Prock's really had a handle on John's car during the weather conditions during Friday qualifying.

Q3
TF: Antron Brown, 3.731; Steve Torrence, 329.02
FC: John Force, 3.966 @ 324.12
PS: Allen Johnson and Jason Line, 6.514; Allen Johnson, 212.96

Good luck all!

He can still play this week if he gets his picks posted before the first round of eliminations on Sunday. He just won't be eligible for any event bonus points this week.
He'll need to post his picks to this thread before 2:00PM EST (11:00AM PST).
