2014 4th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Make Your Picks and Light 'Em Up!

V has the performance to win any race. If he'd had just a bit better light in the final, he would have beaten Jason Line. I think they were both in the .40s on RT. V was hitting the light much better in the previous rounds. Plus, he's a heck of a nice guy, so he's an easy pick for me.

Looks like Kalitta is a popular pick with us this week.

we just need super-bee_ski to get his picks in too, I sent him a PM to remind him...

Yeah V was coming on strong at the end of last season, looks like he's picking up where he left off.

He started his own engine program not too long ago and it seems to have really taken off.

Uhoh, all of my picks are in Dunn's rankings. I'm doomed for sure.

Better remind him again. 3:30PM EST (12:30PM PST) is the cutoff pick posting time to be eligible for all event bonus points.
Good luck all!

Not too late. In fact, really early with your Pro Stock Motorcycle pick 'cause they don't race until the Gatornationals.

good job Ski... no P/SM bikes until the Gatornationals, then they skip a race, then run in Charlotte, then skip a race then run in Atlanta, skip a race then run in Englishtown, then skip a race then 5 races in a row, Epping thru Sonoma thru the west coast swing, except Seattle etc....

yea ha got one of three decent picks F/C John Force... I hope my guys do better in race elimination rounds

P/S Chris McGaha was a surprise but he's running Mike Edwards stuff bought the whole car set-up before the season so it shouldn't have been to much of a shock... good luck all

I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see McGaha do well with Edwards equipment.

Congrats to johnnycuda (FABO) for winning being the Top Qualifier at the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals with a great total of 22.5 bonus points. He picked the #1 qualifiers in both Top Fuel and Funny Car, and the #4 qualifier in Pro Stock.
bad440 (FABO) and 6pack2goDemon (FABO) were both right behind with 21.5 bonus points. Gpuller was the top FBBO picker with 20.0 bonus points. Way to go all!
I will post event points after the TV coverage of eliminations is over.

This week players picked:
* 5 different Top Fuel drivers. No Round 1 head-to-head matchups, but there could be a head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations if both Shawn Langdon and Antron Brown survive the opening round.
* 7 different Funny Car drivers and one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between Jack Beckman and Matt Hagen. There are also 2 potential head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 6 different Pro Stock drivers picked this week with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between Dave Connolly and Jeg Coughlin Jr. Also a possibility of 1 head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations

Good luck all!

way to go Gpuller... time to log off NHRA is coming on...

my picks were weak again, John Force went to the semis, Jeggy & Langdon went out early, it was a smoke fest, green track

Finally!
Here are the results and point standings following completion of the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals - the 2nd event of the 2014 NHRA season. Sorry for the delay, our Inland Mopars Car Club activity for February was yesterday and I didn't get home until late afternoon - and then was still able to watch the last half of the Daytona 500 LIVE due to the extensive rain delay at that event.

More big names going down early had a major impact on the point totals again this week. But congratulations to Brittany Force for getting into her very first final round in Top Fuel, Alexis DeJoria for her very first win in Funny Car, and Allen Johnson and Vieri Gaines for giving us an all-Mopar Pro Stock final.

Congratulations to 'memike' (FABO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals with an outstanding point total of 134.5 points with class wins in Top Fuel and Pro Stock. His Funny Car pick qualified #1 and went one round of eliminations. 'memike' was also helped by his Funny Car pick getting event bonus points for both event ET and speed, and his Pro Stock pick getting event bonus points for speed.
'bad440' (FABO) and '6pk2goDemon' both came in as the event runners-up with a very nice point total of 126.5 as they had the same picks in all three pro classes.
'Gpuller' was the top FBBO picker with 105.0 points.

NOTE: 'littlemoparn1' (FABO) did not post any picks for this week so, per game rules, I carried over his Winternationals picks to this week. He was not eligible for any event bonus points because of the carried-over picks. If he does not post picks for three events in a row, he will "lost his sponsor" and be parked for the remainder of the season.

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Doug Kalitta, 3.735 during qualifying
Speed - Doug Kalitta, 327.74 during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - John Force, 3.990 during qualifying
Speed - John Force, 317.79 during qualifying

Pro Stock
E.T. - Chris McGaha, 6.530 during qualifying
Speed - Allen Johnson, 212.23 during the Final round of eliminations

Here are the game point standings after the 1st event of the 2014 season:
244.5 - bad440 (FABO) +3 spots in the standings
232.0 - johnnycuda (FABO) no change in the standings
213.0 - 67cudafb (FABO) +2
