I REALLY don't like GM. ha ha ha

My 1st Love is Mopar too LOL... I'll defend them to death... I'm no hater obviously, but I ran GM, Ford & Mopar stuff for many years, ran 6's & 7's 1/4 mile, mid to low 4's 1/8 mile, with all 3 mfgr's power-plants & body styles... Also as someone who raced since 1975, for many years mid 70's -early 90's almost nothing was available, that is if you really wanted to go fast, none except ultra hi-$$$ Super Stocks ultra rare or mostly all original hi-$$$ stuff, that only a select few owned & actually even raced competitively or with anything other than a full on Race Hemi T/F T/AA car, I can attest to it, I guarantee I couldn't have done it with my budget, anyway !! I still Love Mopar but don't hate other Brand X either... I'm just saying

A friend of mine is coming from Australia and bringing a couple of his buddies from downunder so we'll be there for the day.
See you there!
My Inland Mopars monthly club meeting is the first Sunday morning of each month so won't be at the Fling on Sunday.

Hey Bud, do you remember if you ever raced against a guy named Alan Darien? He shortened his name at some point but I don't know when. He told me he had raced a Challenger and a road runner back in the 70's and 80's. His real name is Iskendarien. Ed Iskendariens nephew.

Not 100% sure, I was only a little fish in a big pond... I have good & bad days for my memories, it come in waves...LOL & there were 10's of thousands of different people, that I had met over the years... I dealt with & hung around mostly people from the SF East Bay area Concord & Sacramento racers mostly, not too many road buddies... I'm not really good with names either, unless it's someone famous & heard the name allot... I did allot of little match races ADRA, IHRA, Super Chevy Shows/races {yeah I know yuk} Good-Guys, Gary Meterze's {spelling ??} SCTA, NDRA & other Nostalgia Races & smaller races/org.'s or shows that put on drag races etc. @ some little Podunk tracks, arranged or sponsored by JP1/Venolia &/or Childs & Albert, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., 7-Up or DR. Pepper Bottling or Kodiak Chewing tobacco/Us Tobacco Co., Markstien Distributors, Southern Wine & Spirits, H&G Automotive, 1st American Automotive, Crane Cams, Vic Hubbards & allot of displays at Checkers Shucks & Kragens, to put money in the tank & parts on the car... I went where ever the people paying the bills, would want me to go... Also select annual NHRA National events, I never was really a points racer, more of a nomad/match racer... If he was Ed Isky's nephew, I'm pretty sure we've probably crossed paths, I don't remember the name thou... I frequented the SoCal & Gardenia, Corona, Pomona, El Segundo, especially the Long Beach Gang for parts allot, "uncle" Joe Pisano {JP1, Venolia, Childs & Albert owner} with out Joe's help & support, I couldn't have done what I did, along with, Keith Black, Al Bush, Ed Mondello, Mickey Thompson or others may they all RIP... Don Hampton, Al Hoffman, Mert Littlefield etc... I would go down to Long Beach SoCal to get most all my parts, before the big Mail Order craze took off, it was just easier than shipping arrangements, stuff always got lost or didn't show up in time, especially in the late 70's & in the early 80's & long before the internet...

I was just wondering because he said he raced in California. He was telling me that he would get cams from his uncle to test. I actually spoke with him by chance. He works for an insurance company out here in Jersey, and I was speaking with him about my business insurance. We started talking a bit and my car came up in conversation. That's when he told me about his racing days. He sent me a few photocopied pictures in the mail. I'll try to post them here tomorrow sometime. Maybe it will jog your memory.

Hey all -
I just wanted to let y'all know we have a new player joining our game this week. He's not from either FABO or FBBO but since he's a total Mopar gearhead I didn't think you would mind.
His name is Jason Delling and you may remember seeing him on one of the NHRA event television coverages last year. Jason is 10 years old and lives in Michigan with his aunt and uncle because he recently lost his mom. He’s a remarkable boy with a great sense of humor and a fantastic outlook. He also happens to be blind. If you didn’t see the ESPN race day coverage, Jacob lost his vision due to Retinoblastoma when he was only 4.
The TV coverage showed Jacob visiting in the Al-Anabi pits, riding in Jack Beckman's tow vehicle and joking with John Force. It was when Jacob said he was a "Mopar man" and gave Force a bad time about driving Fords that I knew I had to talk with this kid.
I mentioned Jacob at our next Inland Mopars Car Club meeting and the club members immediately decided to make him an honorary member. After some searching we finally made contact with Jacob. This kid will talk your ears off about Mopars and is very knowledgeable about them.
While talking to Jacob on the phone last week I mentioned our little FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" game and he immediately said he wanted to play. Look out, because Jacob knows several of the drivers, crew chiefs and crew members and talks to them on a regular basis. He just may school all of us!
Here's Jacob's Gatornationals picks that he gave me by phone yesterday:
Top Fuel: Doug Kalitta
Funny Car: John Force
Pro Stock: Allen Johnson
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Matt Smith

That's cool! Glad to have you Jacob, go easy on us!

We also picked up two new FABO players: DustedOff and StarGazer.

Yeah they were SoCal & Isky was in Gardenia IIRC, I'm from NorCal, several hundreds of miles away, my home tracks were Fremont, Sears Point, Sacramento & occasionally Bakersfield... No doubt he probably did race allot of the old SoCal tracks {there use to be allot of them} I raced them also, when not racing up North or out on the road, but I also wasn't a local SoCal guy... I look forward to seeing the photos... I might remember the car...

Yeah, I like the cars too. New cars always make me nervous though. I want to see them run a couple times before I pick them.

This is after Friday qualifying. I'd say the little Darts are showing some promise. The Camaros have been running almost a full season and the first timer Darts are right on there heels. Jeg almost got the speed record, my guess is it will be broken again before the weekend is out. By who??? Going out on a limb and predict it will be a Dart.
