Rear suspension

Isn't Utah the land of multiple wives?? :D

Well what are going to do?
You got some great advice on here.

My 4 link required some boxing out of the floor. Rear seat still fits despite this and mini tub (I wouldn't have bought it without a rear seat), but it seems like it took some planning as far as length of the link bars and the height of brackets so the rear seat would fit.

Also, putting real power to the ground, I'm sure plenty would argue that the whole setup needs to be supported with a roll cage supporting the bracket area, driveshaft loop and the shock mounts.

That is the question. I need to take cost into consideration as well as I do not have unlimited monies.

Lol, now that's the 2nd time you asked me to trade. One day I'll get my car to the track and when you see it you can decide lol.

I'm running Caltracs in my 64, with 3400 lb SS springs and the car dead-hooks on a decently prepped track with 11" slicks.

Car weighs 3700 pounds with me in it, is a street/strip car, and has run a best of 10.55 at 129 mph.

Yes, the Caltracs can be noisy on the street but backing them off a turn or 2 takes them out of action and gets rid of the noise.

I expect to get a few more tenths out of the old girl next season with timing and jetting and still stay streetable..

Hope this helps...

What are your 60 ft's in the car ? My 63 street car has run 10.70's so far on 3400 lb SS springs I bought from Mancini and my best 60 on them is a 1.50. Thanks , Ron

Ron.....best 60 foot to date is 1.527 with 11" X 28.1" MT slicks, 3.73 gears and a 4000 stall convertor....I think you have more gear and taller tires ??

Dedicated Bracket car go Ladder Bar or 4 Link. Dual purpose car go Cal Tracks. I know that there are very fast cars on a cal track but those are not bracket cars running deep in rounds when the track prep goes to crap. Cal tracks started on stock eliminator cars because they are prohibited by the rules to run a ladder bar or 4 link. If they could run a ladder bar they all would guaranteed.

Look at the successful bracket cars.... usually a big tire car with a ladder bar or 4 link. Worked well for me when I had a dedicated race car and a trailer...

Now I'm a wanna be with a half torn apart station wagon sitting in my garage on jack stands with a Bastard pack rear spring made up of a special brew of stock wagon main leaf and super stock springs mixed in for fun by the previous owner.

I think you're scared to get beat by the infamous Bobtile.
What's the holdup?

I agree.
YOU are afraid of getting beat by Bobtile!

That is kind of what I have been thinking. A lot of guys make them work really well but could probably be better/more consistent with ladders. Now if I can only make up my mind if I still want to drive on the street or go as fast as possible.

Last year was a little rough, we had a surprise baby come along and with the wifey out of work for like 6 months, my engine / racing budget went bye bye. But I'm back. Gonna join NENDRA this year fo sho.

I've done some of my own leaf spring work too and with good results. Problem with leafs on a fast car is that they take a beating and fatigue quickly. The faster and more severe the car is on the launch, the faster the leafs fatigue.

My car certainly isn't fast, but my springs are definitely sagging a bit.

Lol, slipped one past the goalie within DAYS of taking on that 2nd job for the engine fund. And that was that.

Our last one was somewhat of a surprise. After trying and the wife miscarrying 3 times, we were going to hang it up and next thing we know, a bun is in the oven and baked! She turned out to be the best of the 3 but don't tell the other 2 that lol. Well, one of them already knows :D

My wife had a tubal pregnancy and needed emergency surgery on Thanksgiving about 20 years ago. Just after that she said "don't worry, I can't get pregnant." Well, what's a guy supposed to do? Nine months later............................. Hello daughter!

Sounds familiar, bob! One night after a few drinks next to the fire, she says don't worry, I can't get pregnant this time a month. Welcome baby girl!
