Summit, Edelbrock, Quickfuel, Demon, or Holley for 440 build

According to the summit calculate at 6000 rpm it calls for 700 cfm for street and 800 for racing but I don't doubt I will roll with something that low. But never having built a 440 or drove one for that matter but building one w KB 10.1 pistons and edelbrock top end package making around 480-500hp. How would I determine the Max RPM for the correct calculations. I used an estimated range of 6k but not sure. Anything?

I would guestimate 6500-6800? Dyno would be best. All depends on your specific setup or how much you're willing to push it.

Quick Fuel, Demon or Holley for me. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three since they are all just different versions of a Holley but I'm not a fan of the Edelbrocks and the Summit ones are to new to really know.

10-4 guys well I guess it's an 850cfm for me. Probably gonna go with street avenger 4150 from holley so I can load a NX kit on it down the rd easily. Done my research now it's time to cough up the 500 bucks. Trying to stock pile my parts so I have everything when the short block comes back from the machine shop. Dying to get this thing back in the car and hear it. Thanks a bunch guys.

I run a 1050 dominator never had any issues

If you get to know carbs, then you can do power valving, jets, seat/needles, etc... to bring the CFM size down.

I have used the Edelbrock 850 and if you change things with it it works pretty well.
Sorry, not busting balls but you have two wrong items here.

1; Edelbrock does not make a 850cdm carb. They go as large as 800cfm in a AFB or a AVS (Thunder) style carb.

2: you can not make a carb flow less through tuning. It is impossible.

what's wrong with edelbrock and demon?
Nothing if you know how to tune them though the AFB version can have a big bog if you hit the gas pedal to hard and fast. They need to be modified for a DP in the secondary side. This is not as exactly easy as just a simple drilling out of the carb, but close.
The AVS version is much better.

Ether carb will perform well but you have to remember there not a race carb but just a simple updated street carb.
Don't expect the world from them.

Works very well. 50 hp over the 770 holley avenger on the dyno. The avenger is my worst holley experiance, The old double pumpers and regular series were much better, but we were impressed with the quick fuel out of the box. The price is acceptable also.

THIS! ^^^^^^ is exactly what I would do and not think twice about it.
Skip the Avenger. For under $320? Hell yea! OH hell yea!

Exactly what the title says? Who thinks what carb is best for a new 440 build. 10.1 compression. Edelbrock top end kit total power package. Can't make up my mind on what to go with. Building a street strip car. More street than strip. Need something easy to tune and novice friendly. Thinking vacuum secondaries and electric choke. But what brand? Thanks in advance.
I agree the 850 Holley will make more power. But from what I read into your build that's not the carb I would choose. We had a similar build. 65 Belvedere,Mopar 484 cam, performer RPM , Eddy heads, stock low compression short block, stock torque converter, 3.91. Car drove perfect with a 600 Eddy carb. It did bog until we moved the accelerator pump to the closest hole to the center. Ran 12.90's at the track on 86 octane on regular 255/60 Radial T/A's. Cheap too, especially used. This looks like a street car to me, not a racecar.

Quickfuel 780 on my 522 Stroker! don't understand why people think they need to go 950 on a street 440 build

Hi Goon - Merry Christmas!

I am not an engine guy so I followed and experts advice (IQ52) based on his engine dyno tests, cylinder head flow data, and A/F ratios.

I did ask the question and the answer was QF950.

It says, right on the box: "Fer Racin"

Well if it says "FER RACIN'" Then it's the right one!!!

hahaha MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Done, I've talked to numerous people and they don't understand why I should use the holley 870cfm when i'm simply building a 500 horse street build. Nothing for drag. I might put it on the track once or twice just to see. but mainly just want her to drive whenever I want. I keep hearing the qf 750 is nice so I'm gonna try it for the price. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Thanks rumble fish.
