How big of meats can i get in the stock wheelwells of my 68 Roadrunner?? I have 275-60-15's for the rear and 245-60-15's for the front. Will they fit without any modifications?? That's the goal. Does the backspacing have to be just so?? Thanks guys.

I have 275/60 15s on the back with 15x8 wheels with a 4.5" bs.they fit with room to spare, stock ride height.

what you have will fit fine. I have 275/60/15 rear and 215/70/15 front. You can also go 295/50/15 rear (shorter by 1.5" than the 275/60/15 and would be almost identical in height to your 245/60/15 fronts). Ideally, I'd like to run a rear size of 305/50/15 (27" tall and the widest you can fit in a '68), but they stopped making that size awhile ago.

I have a 69 Superbee running 15 x 10 Centerline Convo Pro wheels, 5 inch backspacing, and and old set of Mickey Thompson Indy Profile L-60 tires. Its about as filled out as you can go. I actually plan on replacing those tires with something just a bit smaller but am torn on what to buy. I don't want to replace the rims but still want just a bit narrower tire. What is the smallest metric sized tire I can safely mount on a 10 inch wide rim? Local tire shop said I "should" be okay mounting up 275 - 60s but may look a little strange on that wide of a rim. Thoughts?

I have 285s on my 69 Charger with plenty of wiggle room and think 295s would fit just fine as well.

Im wanting to use the Mickey Thompson ET drag radials. I think their version of a 275-60-15 is a bit beefier than the normal street radial say BF Goodrich for example. Anyway, I have 10 inch wide rim and wasnt sure if that rim is too wide to safely run a 275 tire on the street without rim screws or beadlocks. I got to measuring and looking at the specs provided on Summits website, the 295-50-15 ET Street radial is about the same as my old Mickeys that are sized as an L-60-15. The tire should look better on a 10 inch wide rim and safer than the 275. I believe I will go with the wider one after much measuring and pondering on it for the last week or so. I was just curious in my earlier reply if anyone else has ran a 275 tire on a 10 inch wide rim. Im more concerned with safety and spinning a bead than anything else. Thanks for the info guys. Great website by the way. First time using it.

I believe the maximum width combination you can run on a 68/69 road runner is a 295/50/15 tire on 10" wheels with a 5 1/2" offset.

The fatties I could fit on my 68 GTX were L60s on 8" deep dish cragars. I couldn't put 10" rims on w/o altering the rear axel. Back spacing makes a big difference as to even being able to fit what I have. I had to take the back disc brakes off and go back to drums on the rear just to fit the tire and wheel combination I have. Proper back spacing on the cragars and I likely wouldn't of had to go back to drums on the rear.

I have 275 60 on my rear...stock suspension, drum brakes, 69 RR...wish it looked a bit wider, but didn't want to give up the height of the tire.

Figured I better update this since I recently got a thanks notification. I'm now running 305's with little wiggle room. Keep in mind that's with a 10" wide rim with 5" of backspacing.

Awesome. That's the old discontinued Euro-T/A size. Where oh where did you find 305/50/15's? These days I only see 275, 295, then it jumps to 315. Unless you're running a larger diameter wheel that is...

Yes, they are on 19" rims.
