Been without water since Wednesday this February cold snap finally took it's toll and can't tell if things are frozen on the city side or my side. It's a big problem right now so the city has set up shower and laundry drop-ins and dropped me off bottled water to use as potable but no effort from them to try any form of thaw... electrical or otherwise.... a bit disappointed with that.

Currently trying to warm up the cold cellar storage room in my house with space heaters in case the pipes run across there and I can get it to a temp to help speed thaw.... this sucks!

All though I don't have any frozen pipes, the temps here have been outrageous.
It's all most 10 AM here and we are up to -3F. temp. No wind right now.

Last year when we had a colder than normal winter there were municipalities that told people to let a faucet run water slowly so the lateral in the street and also to the house didn't freeze. Good luck.

We've been more around the -30F (-34C) for a lot of February. I've done the water running thing overnight but the night that mine froze it wasn't particularly cold until a nasty drop in the a.m. I had running water at 1:30 a.m. when I was awake and then nothing at 6:30 a.m. when I got up for work

How come the politicians don't talk about global warming anymore. I truly believe we will all freeze to death one of these years.

Global warming is used during the times it is warmer than normal...it's 'climate change' that is used when it's colder than usual. Not to worry, you will see 'global warming' thrown around as soon as the temps jump up.

I used 5 gallon buckets with a light mounted inside, I ran 5 of them from the yard to the street...it took about 12 hours but it worked....this was at my sister in laws a many years ago.

I let the water run once as told by the landlord before I ran away , when I got back in the spring , there was a frozen waterfall out of the sink , down the cupboards and luckely tapering off down the long kitchen floor to the door , good thing otherwise I wouldn't of been able to open the front door! Hot water tank was burst open though and the bathtub was full of snow ;)

Now that would be a set of photos we'd like to see. :)

I asked a friend of mine why we live here. His response was "Because we were born here and are to stupid to move."

A neighbor of mine had some friends visiting from California last summer and they commented on how nice and green and beautiful everything was. His response was "You should be here in January."

If you can keep the water lines in the house and plumbing thawed out you've got it made.

I've been without water city since last Sunday, but luckily we have a stream about 60yds from my back door, so I can carry enough water to flush tolets
