Weigh in time today for my new project 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus 318 automatic: 1560 kilos or about 3440 pounds. I was sure it was going to be closer to 4000 pounds. At the time of weigh in: full tank of gas, empty trunk (no spare, no jack, no lug wrench, no upper or lower door panels, no center console (plastic one for slapstick removed), canopy vinyl roof removed, and Sebring Plus body side molding removed. Vehicle equipped with factory 318 two-barrel, factory 904 automatic, 22 inch radiator (no shroud), 8 1/4 rear end, P215/7014 tires on factory wheels with factory wheel covers, factory power steering and power disc brakes, no air-conditioning, bucket seats, dual chrome mirrors, custom dual exhaust with glass packs that exit in front of the rear wheels. Not bad. When I bought my 66 Belvedere /6 auto AC car, it was 3370 but it didn't take too long to get it down to 2950 with the working AC still on it. One of the heavy things on it was 100 lbs of undercoating!! The danged thing was loaded with it.

That Satellite probably has a hundred pounds or more of side-intrusion bars in the doors.....plus all the under-seal. :icon_thumright:

Years ago I pulled the door bars out of a 70 Challenger and they weighed around 25 lbs each iirc. They weren't as heavy as I thought they would be. The doors between those years B and E body cars were similar in weight.

I remember lifting some Challenger doors with the bars in, and also the doors without....there is a difference. :icon_thumright:

Yup....you can feel the difference even 10 lbs makes in them danged heavy things lol. Heaviest door I ever lifted! The first time I pulled one off took me by surprise lol

My 73 weighed 3700 with buckets and buddy, 10" rear speakers, working a/c and heavy undercoating.

66/67 body is super light.

My 66 Belvedere II I had years ago with a poly teen, AC, PS was 3750.....

71-2 Satellite does not have the bars in the doors.
3440 lbs. sound about right for a 318 car.

Learned something new today. Kinda figured that it was mandated by the gooberment for all 70 and newer models......

Sound light to me as my 72 RR GTX, 4 spd, Dana with no AC weighs in at 4050 lbs.

That is a small block car with probably an 81/4 definitely 600 difference between that and a GTX with a Dana and a big block. My 72 SE sb weighed about the same.

4050 on the scale in Vegas. Beer in trunk. Me in car, pushin 200.

Here's a post I found from conv67bdere's thread about his '67 Convertible project showing the weight of underseal from his car.....
