I have a 75 440 in my 62 440. I've put a new champion radiator in it with a new water pump and new hoses on it. I even put a 3000cfm electric pusher fan on it. It over heats when going through a city, on the road it stays cool. What I'm I missing????

Tell us about your pulleys that drive the water pump.

I had a similar issue and it was my thermostat even tho it was brand new.

I put a serpentine system on it.

Ok and what water pump did you use?

I know I had difficulties in the past with mixing pulleys (ac and non ac) and water pumps (ac and non ac) look into it at the very least.

No shroud, don't even know where to get one.

If its ok on the road and only heats up at slow speed or at stop lights check your fan. Is it wired up so the motor is spinning the right direction?

No AC and pump is from summit racing.

Verify pulley and water pump are compatible. Im sure the serpentine system manufacture will help you to verify.

Also verify your wiring and amperage source match your fan.

Put a shroud on it.

Yes, the electric fan works at 180 and is a pusher. When I first put it on I tested it and it work at 180 and cooled it down, when I took it for a test drive it came on but did not cool it through town.

I think I'll pull the thermostat out and see if it will change the cooling. I don't run a heater anyway.

180 Stant Superstat. Green coolant. Mancini Billet housing so no leaks.

Some serpentine systems require you to use a reverse water pump as it spins backwards because of the serpentine system.. May or may not be the problem... Just a thought..

If it is a pusher is if mounted in front of the radiator? If mounted behind the radiator it is fighting a lossing battle with incoming air and is worthless while moving.

Thermostat out, it still reaches 210......

it's mounted in front.

230

230 is high. Based on digital laser temp gun?

Yea! but what's causing it to go that high..

Check the radiator temps from top to bottom just because it is new does not guaranty it is flowing correctly. Should get cooler at the bottom.
