Had some issues with their poly loc mounts. Sent them the following email and Picts. Why post here too? Never been a big fan of theirs; mostly due to out of stock parts but also the concept of bolting brackets to brackets in order to get stuff to work.

I know some guys like their stuff. This is simply my experience.

Thought I'd give them another shot; strike one, youre out...

Hello Mike, (their tech guy

Wanted to let you know what I experienced while attempting to mount my Hemi on the Kframe for the '64 Dodge. Apparently the drivers side PolyLoc bolt placement and mounting hole placent were off by a strong 3/16" from the stock locations. This pushed my engine forward far enough that the pan nearly hit the Kframe. Yes, it.s that close. Normally I could live with tight clearances however; in this case things are going to move, even under normal use. Just a note: the Kframe was fabbed by Al Devebec and the disc conversion by Bob Mosier.

It also appeared that the basic geometry of the mount is off by a quantity of degrees. Could it be "pulled" in? Yes. Should it be? No. At this point I've chosen to go with new, original mounts.

I've included a few pictures. The last one is the stock mount. As you can this isn't a shade tree operation and I'm pretty picky when it comes to critical components.

Good luck with you're investigation.

Regards,

Mike Rheinheimer

I replaced the rubber mounts with poly loc mounts for the hemi in my 65 Belvedere and they lined up a lot better than the set you have. I had no problems with mine. Hope you get your issues resolved.

Rick, when you have a moment, why don't you clean up your shop? Lol!!
But seriously, I'm envious of your garage. Looks fantastic!!

My suspicion is that their jigs are worn and the operators don't have a factory comparison handy to check a sample every now and then. One can blame quality control but it's alway been my opinion that the operators and fab guys are responsible for assy. quality. Last time I checked, QC doesn't do the assy... I'm sure they'll check into it.

To be fair, here is Mike's response;

I am very sorry that you are having trouble with our mounts. I am also sorry for the delay in answering, I needed to look into this matter before I responded. First, let me say that we base all of our mounts, both metal and urethane Poly-Loc products, from the original Chrysler drawings. We strive for all of our products that leave here to be within +/- .032" tolerance(s). I checked the Hemi Poly-Loc mounts that we have here and found them to be within these parameters. They are true and square and the measurements are right on. I will attach photos of what I found when I installed the mount onto our Hemi K-member, everything looks good.

The "pushing the engine forward" you described is usually attributed to the metal engine bracket instead of the rubber or urethane insulator and without a side by side photo that shows the relationship of the studs it is hard to tell what the difference is between the two. Actually, based on the photos it looks like they line up to the edge of the metal bracket the same or very close. It could also be that the oil pan is designed for the '66 and newer vehicles and not your '64. The other photo you have shown with the angle misalignment could also be caused because of the bracket or K-member. Both the bracket and the K-member perch need to be at an exact 45 degree angle in order to line up correctly, but the insulator just needs to be a true rectangle. The only way that it can change the angles is if it wasn't square. Achieving this 45 degree angle is very difficult, in order to do so is part of the reason the factory went with softer mounts so that they compensated for these types of misalignment issues better. What it actually looks like is the passenger side is too low.

You didn't mention the passenger side, I would like to know how that side went and to make sure that you purchased both sides. If you didn't that could be part of the problem. If they are not the same height that might cause this sort of thing.

While I am glad you are happy with your Chinese or Indian made "new, original mounts", I don't want my products compared against them for accuracy. I stand behind my mounts 100%. If you are unhappy with my mounts, or any of our products, for any reason, we will give you a full refund or send you a replacement part/set whichever you choose. I would be happy to send you the part shown in the photo and a return service label for the part(s) that are not working for you.

Sincerely,

Michael

Holy cow, that is some customer service. I think I'm more sold on their parts now than before from reading that response.
