Can Anyone Explain the 70's Cruise Control?

I just got a 73 Town & Country with the Chrysler cruise control system. There's a cable that runs from the control to the carb, which is a no brainer. There are several wires and what looks like a tube running from the control.

Anyone know what all connects to what?

I'd bet money the control unit is bad so it was all disconnected.

should be a vacuum hose running from the intake , also the speedo cables ran thru the cruise, one cable came up from the trans , then another cable ran from the cruise thru the firewall to the speedo head.

Vacuum hose would normally connect to the brake booster check valve originally, manifold vacuum tap. Wiring connects to the turn signal lever control switch, would also involve a connection to a dual function brake pedal switch and keyed power source. Check the manual for specifics, same basic system used on all models.

It's all connected. I just can't see where all the connections go and the wiring diagram is a bit vague.

Try this diagram for wiring. It's '73 and I doubt there was any changes in the color codes across the models and years. You will have a vacuum source supply line and two speedo cables as well as a cable that pulls on the carb linkage.

Excellent! So I guess I need to pull the brake switch out of the wagon and replace the one in the Roadrunner with it, then figure a way to make the control switches work.

Iirc most of the stuff is direct bolt on. Even a truck has the same stalk/wiper switch. I think even the column harness is a separate system, and I think there are dimples where you mount the bracket for the control head. Hardest part will probably be fishing that harness down the column and installing the stalk.

I never liked the stalk-mounted controls. I was thinking of snagging a control from some other vehicle that I can mount on the dash or console.
