So i don't know if some hillbilly beat the hell out if it to clear headers, or something exploded at one time. I see that there are amd replacement firewalls, but feel that it will be a bigger mess than if i were to get a section to replace the damages sheetmetal. Anyone out there that could steer me in the right direction, have a doner, or been in this spot before..?

Thanks,
matt

Didn't have to be a hillbilly to do that ... plenty of people did what they needed to do for what they wanted back when these cars were new or not that old

Are you doing a concours restoration? Why not take out a sledgehammer and beat it back down? It will hardly be seen when the carpet is in. Some bondo would pretty it up also, unless you're against that sorta thing...

69runner: I thought about that but is so mangled I rather just throw a new piece of sheetmetal in that I fab out out of 18gauge, or perferably get a section out of a doner car. Ive been going thru the whole body now and correcting all the sins i am able to. Just these sins are going to start hurting the pocket.

anyone have a close up pic of their firewall this yr b body inside and out?

was that done purposely, or was the car involved in an accident at one time. i would do a thorough inspection of the front end frame rails and related components.

If not doing a concours restoration. I would just bang it out the best you can vs replacing it.

As 69roadr stated I would check the front end unibody portion.

This was my first thought also. Almost looks like the motor was pushed back.

I worried about that when i first saw that... but everything seems to be fine. framerails and front end looks fine. I looked at the seam of the firewall to the cowl and the floor and looks untouched... something or someone happened at one time.

Once it stops raining I can hack that chuck of metal out of my parts car that is soon to be going to the scrapper. PM me and we can work out the specifics and low, low pricing lol.
