73-74 Sunroof pictures from inside

Could someone share some pictures of their sunroof from inside? I see lots of pictures from outside the car showing the roof open but I can't find any good ones from inside. As you can see from my picture, my 74 roadrunner is missing the headliner and the crank bezel. I am hoping some good pictures from you guys will help me see what else is missing. Since the bezel is hard to come by I want to see if the charger and roadrunner one is the same so I can expand my search. Of course my sunroof doesn't work either, I can feel the gears skipping, so I'll be needing more than just a bezel in the long run. If I found a whole set up I'd be happy too. Thanks in advance.

I can get more pictures tomorrow if needed my car is 100% org and unmolested and in perfect condition and works like it's new so I have the perfect car for pictures

YY1, I'll look for that cover tomorrow. It will be dark by the time I get home today. Do you mean the cover is on the top so I need to pull the assembly out? Also did you get my PM?

Thanks. Those pictures help. i might have to pick your brain later, when I get on to it. How did your dome light wiring route? Mine is clipped on the edge of the sunroof so I am sure it was moved when someone monkeyed with the sunroof before. The wiring seems too short to reach to a more logical place. Did you have pictures before the headliner was taken out? I'm curious to see what it looked like.

This site has the most extensive collection of s/r documents on the web compiled from other sources.

Yes the handle bezel is the same 71 and up.

Most parts are the same 69-79, and even from some other car lines.

You might get lucky and all it is is the cable off the rollers.

I think I saw you ask about sealing in another post.

If you look at the design, you'll see it's actually designed to channel water like a house gutter and downspout.

The "downspouts" exit into the wheel well areas, but I've seen some rears exit into the quarter panel for whatever reason.

I'd find the exits, and make sure they work, then check for rust through in the gutters. It can be hard to spot.

Here are the pictures I took today. Sorry my garage is dark and the pictures didn't turn out too well. That picture of the black bezel is the one I bought on Ebay, but it doesn't fit my Charger. Not sure what it does fit. These numbers were on the back of it: 3696965 and 68072. Hope this helps.

BTW Those white things are just towels I stuffed in there to prop the plate up. As you can see I need a new headliner too.

440rush, Thanks! Those pictures are exactly what I was looking for.

Regarding that bezel... The chrome one in your picture looks kinda squared off on the side away from the crank whereas the black one is rounder. The rounder one looks like it would match the curve of the foam you can see in my picture. Also a user on this forum has an older forsale ad in the parts section for a whole roof from a sunroof charger. The bezel in his pictures looks rounded off too.

How i.e. did the black one not fit? Too small or shape? Does the squared off one work? If so what did that come off of?


Hey YY1, I did see all the drain hoses but couldn't find the screwed on cover. Do I need to drop the assembly and access the panel from the top?

Hi Root2812, The chrome bezel is the one that came with the Charger. They are shaped a little different like you said. I bought the black one on Ebay, it was advertised for a 73 Charger. It was close to fitting my Charger but just off a bit,so I'll just go with the chrome one for now. It's not that bad of shape & I don't think I will replace my headliner anytime soon. The black might fit with a little work. It kind of looks like your picture & the picture Bb700Charger500 posted have the rounder bezel unlike the chrome on that's in my car. Do you think the black one will fit your car ? I could send more pictures if you like. The chrome picture was a little blurry.

BTW Root 2812, You might post on the for A bodies only site too. I'm not to sure if the sun roofs in those would be the same a B body.

Root 2812, The black bezel was the wrong shape but very close to the right size. I don't need the black bezel if your interested LMK.

I wouldn't mind a few pictures with some measurements. Maybe Bb70charger500 could compare those measurements to his bezel. If its the same as what I need or will atleast work I would be interested. If I painted it white it would look just fine until I found a real chrome one.

I'll get pictures of both the chrome & black one as soon as I can.Work got crazy so it might a few days.The black bezel was made of white plastic when I bought it but I painted it black to match my interior. Maybe it could be plated ?

Thanks for all the help. Don't rush or worry about time. I've got all kinds of time to wait. It's still frozen here so I won't be tearing the sunroof apart until at least April. The car is outside because my garage is full.

440Rush, thanks. I want to spend a little time hunting for a chrome part first but I may end up taking you up on that offer. Sorry it took me so long to get back online to post. Lots going on.

It finally warmed up some and I got the car inside so I will try and get some stuff done soon. I am going to be starting with some items needed to be reliably drivable but then the sunroof comes after that.

Did you get a chance to look at that wire routing for me? Still no huge hurry, just wondering.

Update, a board member contacted me and gave me an original bezel for free. It needs a little tlc but I am very thankful. The chrome is pealing and it has 2 cracks in it. I'll peal the chrome off and epoxy the cracks and then paint it white. It will look good and not many people will know the difference. Can any of you guys tell me the size, length, and thread pitch of the mounting screw for the bezel? Trial and error will be a pain since I can't carry the car in the hardware store with me.

i had had a little time in the garage despite having a sick baby. I got the sunroof open about an inch. I am optimistic I'll get it open soon and can dig in. The same user who gave me the bezel also printed some pages about the sunroof from and assembly manual so I have some info to go by too now.

Suprisingly, another member messaged me and he lives 10 miles away and has a sunroof car he is working on. Once I get mine on the road with some tires I'm going to try and meet up to compare.
