440 six pack, approximately 1000 miles out of complete rebuild. Purple Cam. Been running great. I parked it about 2 weeks ago and removed the negative power cable. Removed the summer washer mix from windshield washer.

Today reconnected battery cable cranked right up went for a Sunday drive. Got into it a - little nothing radical 2nd gear tire squeal, and immediately acts like it ran out of gas then caught back up.
Returned toward home and at low power seems like running out of gas. No backfiring, starts and idles seemingly normal, but normal acceleration just don't work. Again like it is running out of gas momentarily. I did replace all the rubber hoses I could from the fuel lines about a month or so ago (could vapor lock be a possibility).
I do have a clear float bowl sight glass. Installed it in the center carb and seems to be sufficient fuel.
Anyone have any ideas?

Damn auto correct.
Squirter, or accelerator pump

Does it fall on it's face when you 1st hit the pedal or when your cruzin?
about 1/3rd pedal seems like and then if the throttle is increased almost full seems like it catches up.

did have a new high performance mechanical fuel pump installed during rebuild

No leaks around the carbs either

Were they getting vacume? when vacume was applied did they open?? Also do the fuel volume test and double check the tank vent.

Again thanks for all the help.
I did check the springs on the outboards they were fine. Turns out I had a cracked spark plug. I was pulling and checking them. When I tried to replace the wire on this one the end came off in the wire. Replaced it and problem fixed.
Thanks again for the help.

SOP,,,,,,Std operating proceedure. Diagnosing a drivability condition will take you down that path. Glad it was simple:thumbsup:
