Building a 6 pak engine that will run Hydralic lifter, stock heads and stock exhaust. Trying to determine what cam to run. I don't mind if it lopes some but nothing radical. Will race it some but mostly street driven. What are your opinions? Thanks

best cam i ever ran in a stock 6pak engine was the old hughs/engle 2330.

I have a Bob K cam in mine and love it

Dwayne's cams work, plus he's a good guy to deal with. And you could have it nitrided for insurance.

the last time i had a conversation with dwayne (maybe over a year ago) he was messing with the thumpr profiles (changing the lsa to 113) and was going to do a dyno test on a howards 720141-12 in stock type engines. don't know the outcome. bon k cams used to be engles. i like engles. i don't like any of the comp cams 268 intake lobe profiles in a 440. there's several profiles out there that would work fine in a stock type build. i like the summit 6401 for stock type stuff. elgin has a 112lsa version of the summit cam that i would like to try. with stock heads i wouldn't get to silly with lifts.

Thanks everyone. Decisions. Decisions..

For what it's worth,I think you will find Tom Hoover was involved with Bob K on the design of his cam,I imagine that's worth something. If you really want to determine what is best, buy them both, compare them and all you doubts will be put to rest.:poke:

Scott Brown is who I've used and recommended many times over. For Pure Stocker Builds and Stock Appearing Builds. He is amazing.

I think if you're building a truly "stock" engine, the Bob K cam is tough to beat.

I've talked to Bob on the phone and through e-mail over the last 9-years. I bought one of his cams. Without me really knowing the guy, he gave me his work phone, home phone, and cell phone to call whenever I had a question about my build. I'm respectful of Bob's time and the timezone difference between us. I'm not calling him at one in the morning or anything weird like that, but this guy will drop whatever he is doing to talk Mopars everytime I've called him. Yeah, I guess you could say, I'm a Bob K fan.

I recently called him last week. He had just gotten back from the Pure Stock races and his Hemi 'Cuda ran an 11.68. Mind you, this isn't stock "appearing". THIS IS STOCK.

Stock heads (no porting or gasket matching allowed)
Stock valve sizes
Stock intake
Stock exhaust
Stock full exhaust system
Stock torque converter
Stock carbs
Stock polyglas tires
And Bob's certified cam

I'm sure the other guys will do a great job too, but when it comes to a "stock" Mopar, the knowledge gleaned from Tom Hover, and the decades of experience, gotta call Bob.

I've been running a mr sixpack cam for years. He has put all the test and tune time into these camS so we don't have to do it! I can't be beat! One of the best guys in the hobby too!

Bob K is who I decided to go with. I talked with him several times and got a lot of advice from him. Great guy. Just got the engine back from Dennis Mitchell Racing in Huntsville Al. Haven't started it yet, it will be a couple of months before that will happen.
