Paul Tibbets IV to fly on B-29 “Doc”

Brigadier General Paul Tibbets IV, the grandson of Brigadier General Paul Tibbets Jr., who flew the B-29 “Enola Gay” during the Hiroshima nuclear bombing on 6 August 1945, will fly as copilot of the B-29 “Doc” during a flight from Wichita to Whiteman AFB this coming Friday.

Paul Tibbets IV is the commanding officer of the US Air Force’s 509th Bomb Wing which operates the B-2 “Spirit” stealth bomber.

At Wright-Patterson AFB, December 1993 I met Retired Gen Paul Tibbets and his wife.
I was waiting for my annual Flight Physical and I see this very dignified older woman sitting across form me.
I'm in Flight Suit.
She quietly smiled at me.
Then, the door opens and I see retired General Tibbets walk out form his "General checkup?"
I recognized him, shook his hand and they then left and drove home top Columbus OH, where they resided.

Jimmy Doolittle III FLEW our ARIA aircraft as part of the 4950th Test Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio for a couple of years.
He was our DO or "Director of OPs"
Real "COOL" guy.
Drank beer with us after the Missions
Told us GREAT stories about his Grand Dad "Jimmy Doolittle"

I truly do not know if you all fully understand what I do out here at Edwards AFB.
I work with the F-22 Combined Test Force (CTF)
I am extremely fortunate in that my peers are the Best of the Best.
I get to see the F-22 daily, and support the Test missions that we do out here.

I'm also fortunate to see many other Flight Test aircraft.

(The entire Flightline operations would cease when this launched and landed)

The Albatross didn't fly here at Edwards, not that I can recall BUT Paul Mcready's Centurion did, here at NASA Armstrong (Edwards AFB)
Paul McReady designed the Gossamar Albatross AND the Centurion
I saw it around 1999 or 2000
