Craigslist ads and morons who just don't get it.

While I understand your frustration, if you are open to constructive feedback, perhaps I would have just listed the issues and said I was very firm on the price.
But I confess that I have to agree that it seems most people have intelligence issues.
Maybe it's your location.

LMAO could be the location. I kind of dig getting into a verbal spat every now and then.. There is nothing in my ad that is mean or insensitive. I put it blunt and to the point. THEY DO NOT READ THE DAMN AD. Plain and simple.

Has it ever overheated? I ask because you say the head gasket is blown, and you still drive it (some?). You can buy a NEW head for not too much. I sell them for $315 + shipping. This is a new head with a new cam. If you choose to use yours, when you get it off of the engine, see if you can spin the cam by hand. It should spin freely, and easily with your fingers. Leave the 3 cam caps tightened to test this. If it does spin, clean it and have it surfaced, but is you cannot turn it or is tight, you will need to have it straightened first. Then a valve job, and finally surfaced. You also need to make sure the coolant passages (look like eyebrows) on the exhaust side. They are usually corroded excessively due to electrolysis. If your head needs all of this, to include the possibility of cracks, this makes a new head very reasonable. If you have any questions, either post or PM me, and I will help the best I can...
It runs fine as long as you don't go out driving it. I have only yard driven it and it has never actually over heated. But the other day I was trying to pull my old shed about ten feet over from where it was.. It then started steaming out the exhaust. So It may not be a bad leak. Just minor under pressure. I can get the head redone for 100.00 from my Mopar buddy. He has all the stuff to resurface them. My plan was to fix and flip it I have been pretty busy and haven't had time to mess with it. Now I think my kid needs a first time beater so it might be the toyota.

I did not and refuse to believe my ad was anything other than to the point. I understand your angle. I had it like that at first. And like I said after 15 people calling and asking the same thing. It was all in the ad from the start.

At least you didn't put two bottles of Bars Leaks in it and try to sell it as a perfect running vehicle as many people would have done.

Having owned my share of 2.2l turbo MOPARs, I always had good luck with the 'lift and replace' head gasket repairs. The thin wall area between cylinders 2 and 3 always had a few hairline cracks. Maybe I was lucky, but never sent a head out on the head gasket replacements.

Haa, Buddy of mine had a Labaron GTS Turbo 2.2 that little turd would haul ***. Popped a head gasket and we must have used 3 or 4 tubes of barsleak to get it home.. never actually fixed the head back then we were kids and as long as it wasn't leaking out we were cruising.

I had a LeBaron Convertible, Shelby Lancer (intercooled rocket Turbo II), and Shelby Charger. The Shelby Charger was actually the most fun car I have ever owned. Loved blowing off 5.0 Mustangs and Z28s all day long with that car. It was also a autocross champion and handled like it was on rails with just KYB shocks as the upgrade.
It's a shame these cars met the crusher due to the head gaskets. It is quite simple to swap (yet most shops quotes $1000 to $1200 for this repair), and with help from a friend, I got to the point that I could swap a head gasket as fast as an oil change (left exhaust and turbo in place, lifted exhaust with floor jack and head with a friends help-swap gasket, new stretch bolts, and done). The FelPro head gaskets were not as reliable as the Mopar Performance; a lesson learned twice.

I have the chance to buy 2 shelbys both non turbo I think 85 models. One is blue and silver the other maroon and silver. And a omni parts car. All for 800 bucks.

I totally understand your frustration, but anytime you post an ad, you're inviting people to contact you. It can go both ways..... Not long ago was contacting a guy about a 63 Dodge race car. It was across the country, so I sent a friend that lived near the car (member here at FBBO) to take a look at it. I ended up offering the guy exactly what he had originally asked for it;..... he got pissed at me for "wasting his time", as he now wanted more $. I guess my point is selling a car takes time, if you don't want to deal with questions, offers and spending time with interested parties, don't place the ad.

I don't mind fielding the calls. if they have legit questions that are not answered in the ad. But when its the same damn questions about information posted in the ad its stupid to engage these people. Screw them and it makes for a great topic of conversation. :)

1983 to early 1985 could be non turbo, but mid 1985 to end of the run (late 1993 I believe was the Shelby GSX Shadow and Spirit R/T) were all turbos. Turbo I was 145HP and Intercooled Turbo II was 180 to 195HP depending on car (GLH, GLHS, Shelby Lancer). The Turbo III was advertised at 212HP and had multiple issues with valve springs and shredded timing belts.
I have considered buying another Shelby Charger from time to time; if one in Tucson comes up at a can't pass it up price I'll probably bite.
These cars were built cheap and fast and ran fast. The build quality was so cheap that paint and interiors went downhill fast. They were disposable pocket rockets.

Here we go again ! Another all knowing Jack ***! I just got this email last night for the 72 charger that I'm selling for my friend!Screenshot_20170615-113608.png

I love it when they say: "WHAT'S THE LOWEST YOU'LL TAKE FOR IT???"
My retort: "WHAT'S THE HIGHEST YOU'LL PAY FOR IT???"

But realistically, BeepBeepRR, you should post a more positive ad. There are cool people looking for a Truck like this, but your ad is gonna scare them away.
And, I gotta tell ya...FORD TRUCK PEOPLE are the cheapest SOBs on the face of the earth.
I sell gobs of CL and get so frustrated with the idiots who ACTUALLY show up and tire kick, then leave.
There goes another hour of my life I can never get back.

I agree with "partsmonsta" 100 percent...
You advertisement comes across as "Hostile" to me.
I will say this: GREAT TRUCK at a GREAT PRICE in my opinion

I wouldn't say hostile, just to the point. I guess people take it the way they want. I don't really take anything personal. I certainly wouldn't let a craigslist ad get under my skin. There are a ton of ads on there with similar highlighted phrases. And the way I interpret those ads are... Well, the guy is firm on his price and won't budge.. How does that make sticking my toyota up my *** the very next thought that comes to mind?

I try to keep my CL ads simple and to the point without any extra wordage. Seems the more words they have to look up, the more cornfused they get. This is my latest ad for a 68 383 long block....

Dodge 383 long block 1.4.68 casting date

Forged crank .030 mains, .020 throws. Block .060, 250 heads, stock 2806301 4bbl intake which in itself is considered to be a great stock intake. Block still has it's balancer, timing chain cover, and rear main seal adapter. 150.00

Figured I'd post it up just in case someone wanted something from it like the timing chain cover, or the heads, bolts etc....who knows. Had a couple of calls on it but this one guy calls from 100 miles away. I had already loaded it on my yard cart Dakota to haul to the scrap yard after it was advertised for a week. He shows up and looks it over pretty good but obviously he didn't read the ad. After we pushed it from my yard cart to his, he finally asked if it ever had been rebuilt. All kinds of things ran through my pea brain but stated that I knew it had been decked. That would have been a definite giveaway to me. And he said he had lots of experience with Ford products but not much with Mopars. Go figure. I'm sure he'll call pretty soon after spending some time and money cleaning it etc (it's pretty grungy) and I'll tell him if he wants, I'll refund his money. Btw, he offered 100 bucks without the intake. Just hope he brings it back pretty soon so I don't have to make two trips to the scrap yard. Almost have a full load ready to go :D

I have bought and sold quite a few cars and trucks on craigslist and have never had an issue. Other than no shows or people walking for 50 bucks.. That's cool with me they wasted their time and gas just to be cheap. I know I'm probably coming off as the bad guy here but then again who cares? But what it all boils down to is read the ad and don't be stupid about it.

That's the way I feel too. If you're too stoooopid to read the ad, then you're going to end up getting a lesson that you won't forget.....I hope. The very first engine I bought from an ad in the local paper in 1969 was advertised as a 383. It turned out to be a 361. Back then 100 bucks wasn't chump change and I learned how to ID Chrysler engines after that and never made that mistake again! And no, he wouldn't take it back. I was just a dumb 18 year old to him....or maybe he didn't know. Heck, I sold a 273 one time thinking for sure it was a 318. Never even crossed my mind to check it before advertising it. The guy that bought it called and told me but he said he was fine with it being a 273 and figured that's what it probably was being that it came out of a 67 Dart. That was around 73-74 and now I make sure what they are....
