Hi fellas,
I am a diehard 8 3/4" fan, so I went to the fabricated Moser axle housing. It is a real nice piece but, I also ordered it with a back brace (why not spend an extra $150). My mistake was forgetting I had moved the springs inboard. The U bolts didn't clear the brace and the shocks sure as hell did not! So I'm cutting and shortening the back brace. Just beware if you follow my path!
In retrospect, I believe the back brace is overkill anyway. The Moser housing is much heavier duty than the OEM.

Not trying to persuade you, but my line of thinking has always been the factory went to the Dana 60 for a reason, and saving weight is good, BUT you want weight in the rear if you want traction. The Dana kills 2 with one stone.

Hello Mike I had the same problem with mine, shocks wouldn't fit it hits the back brace, but even when you back brace a factory housing you run into the same problem, on my 65 Satellite I'm considering relocating the top mounting points and extending the bottom to clear the brace, or maybe even going four link.

I'm sure Chrysler went to the 60 because they were already using it in the trucks and a new beefier 8 3/4 would cost more to design and produce rather than Dana putting on car type ends. It's always about money! On the other hand the extra unsprung weight does make ride and handling suffer.

Mike something like this is what I'm Talking About !!, you Don't need a Dana The 8.75 is Bad ***, Plus the 8.75 is really easy to change Gears !! Yup I run 4.88, 4.56 & 4.30 For racing & For the Street!! Also a Gear Vendor, 45 min & I can literally have any of the 3 center sections I want, plus one time I broke my ring gear at the track and Dropped in a spare.

Mine's been in since last year. No problems. Pretty much a work of art, including the bottom drain and 2" filler on top.
