i am working on getting a 318 running decently. Has a QFT 600 CFM carb. I installed new plugs, wires, distributor cap, dizzy and starter (among MANY other things). Used a timing light and manually set initial timing by hand ( bumping distributor) to get the engine able to start. Set the carb up by putting fuel floats at mid point in sight glass for front and rear lines, turned in adjustment screws on carb til tight, then backed off 1 and 1/2 turns. Started car up, black smoke all over. Turned off car and hooked up a vacuum gauge to carb.
With vacuum gauge installed, started car, readjusted distributor (bumping by hand) to get 13-15 IN/Hg (sweet spot is 17-22 IN/Hg), turned carb adjustment screws all the way then backed them out each only 1/2 turn. BOOM! 18-20 IN/Hg. Sounds great, idles at 1k rpm, in gear, sits at 800rpm's, can power brake (could never before).
Now the problem, when I push the gas pedal down (adjusted per instructions on here) while driving, car just bogs down and feels like it is missing. No loud pop or backfire, just a hesitation here and hesitation there, when driving.
Pull into my driveway, put into park, idle is still at 1k, now car gets a shake to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
