The"Dogfights" series from Discovery Channel can be found on Youtube. This one I never heard of, "The Legend of Y29" sounds like it was an air force Battle of the Bulge. Enjoy....

I thought that I would post this up for jimiView attachment 509160
Thanks Boss! Looks like 'Ham' Standards to me. Notice the grind patterns.....that's all free hand grinding by a Human, no automated process,,,,even new, the blanks(injected molded i think)have to be deburred & surfaced by hand operations. Procedure is same in propeller overhau, the blades must be ground to pull out corrosion & dress up flaws like stone damage.
The grinding passes must be full length, uninterupted, 50% overlapped & must be counted off, so that each blade of a prop assembly has the exact same number of passes. At Aero prop, Paul kept a log sheet on each set of blades, writing down the number of passes, grits used etc. Also the list was in case of interruptions during grinding process, to note the count @ time of interruption & not get lost in count.

Auggie56, I don't know if that Hamilton picture is the original, it's just the largest one I was able to find.

For Jimi- I remember a story of USAF planes being weighed before&after a repaint to make sure the paint was not too thick. Any truth to that?(too thick wouldn't transfer heat as good?)
