What a crappy day!!

damn, WTF!.......... I've never used HOK paint..... now I never will
Lol. Keep in mind it was applied by an amateur too.... ME! I went with HOK because everytime I saw this shade of orange at a show it was the HOK brand. First time using it, might be the last because it caused me plenty of headaches but again I blame myself not HOK.

That sucks for damn sure...
I'd be peeved too...

somewhat strange too, thanks for the warning & heads up

Don't get me wrong & I'm no paint expert by any means,
BUT;
it seems like to me, that automotive paint
"usually isn't effected as bad to gasoline", clear or not

I've spilled gas on the paint on several of my cars
over the many years even stuff that sat for a while &
I don't remember that ever happening,
not that it cant... strange,
albeit; I usually have wiped it off before that happened

{I see you didn't know it happened until it was too late, that sucks too}

is there an additive in your fuel ?,
like an octane booster etc. ?
that could have done &/or contributed to that ?
Just curious ?

the whole situation sucks either way, such a nice car
No, just regular 92 octane pump junk... ethanol blend. I've spilled gas on it several times at the pump and wiped it off with no issues, obviously time had a hand in it.

:thumbsup: :thankyou:

All I want to know is why u didn't park in the shade in that beautiful garage? Lol. Jeff
Well... When I'm not at work it gets driven a lot so no need to park it right? Never again on the bank though.

im curious to see when you get to it, what the weak link is........ is the paint coming off the primer? or deeper?.......peel it up with a razor blade and post pics before you just blast it with a sander

I feel for you 747 - all the work you put into that baby. What a freak thing to happen. Kind of a bizarre way to find out as well. Do the bugs like the ethanol - is that it’s?

Damn, that sucks Devin. The obvious solution here is that you need another project car. Two cars - then you still have something to drive when the other one's in the paint booth.

Just need to start on my daughter's car, she'd let me borrow it.:thumbsup:

Bugs seam to get into everything that creates fumes for some reason including paint and oil stains... don't ask me how I know.

Will do but it will be a while, full plate right now and my garage still isn't heated.

My dad filled his 70 Challenger once years ago on a hot day and the 50/50 mix of pump / VP C12 gas expanded which overflowed and ruined the rear quarter paint. Was a pretty nice paint job too....

sorry for your headache

Yikes! Makes me glad that my car has the tank filler behind the license plate.

Bad news my friend. Sorry it happened to you instead of some Ford jerkoff.

Finally, I'm fixing it and can now answer this. The blistered paint miraculously sucked back in so tight that you really had to look for it so I let it go until I banged up the rear and had to dive in.

Once I started sanding you could easily see the flakey clear and paint and just a teeny bit in the white sealer but it stopped there, the 2K primer was untouched. Hopefully she'll be back in full glory soon.

How steep is that bank anyway?
Don't know, I'd say there's every bit of 12" from one side of the car to the other if parked on it which I don't do now!
