Thanks to the members who helped me with this problem. I wanted it fixed as its a important safety issue. I dont want the car ever accidental starting in Drive. It was never the switch itself. It was the plastic insulator that the ball of the switch itself rides on. The insulator was partially broken and in drive the ball contacted metal and was grounded. A member recommend A & A transmission, i talked to them and they were nice people. I bought the exact part which came with the correct rivet. The insulator snaps on and the rivet holds it firmly in place. I dropped the valve body and made the repair no problem. Works fine now. I originally did need a new switch as one pin broke off and i needed a new harness but then i thought the switch was effective as i read many switches dont work properly. So i spent a nice amount of money on a NOS switch. Well no big deal and at least its working the way it was intended. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the update! One more thing that could go wrong with a safety neutral switch that not everyone knows about.

Do you have heat where you're working on the car? It been cold on the east coast!

Hmmm...
On some cars, I just ground the terminal on the relay. All my cars are automatics though. I can see this being a problem with manual trans cars though.

The only benefit of having a one car garage is heating it. The garage is well insulated, what i do is run my space heater for maybe 5 to 10 minutes at most. Shut it off and let the ceiling mounted 220 volt electric heater take over. I have a ceiling fan running also. It is cold on the concrete but not unbearable.
