Anybody know who can retread Goodyear polyglas tires if possible? I know I can buy new ones but the set I have are not even 5 years old, sidewalls are mint. Just like to reuse them instead of tossing them

Retreads are just as dangerous today as they were 40 years ago. I wouldn't do it either....

Just a thought. Have a local that does semi tractors tires and he never had a problem with retreading. Probably just gonna buy new ones.

Retreads, boy I haven't heard that term in decades. Why not just buy new radials?

Do not even think that thought again. I sold those shitty things years ago. No quality control in what you get back. Overall tire diameter varies greatly on retreads, and there is no guarantee you'll get the original tread design back.

If you really like them, then buy the new reproduced ones from Kelsey.

Thanks for your input guys, I buy my tires from a gentleman in Montana. Little over 100 dollars cheaper then anywhere else and I get them in 3 days if they are in stock. I would never put radials on my muscle cars. I like the how they drive like how they used to drive back then on shitty *** bias plys.

Try a set. Radials are not what they were in the 80s.
The last Polyglas I had, was so glad when I could afford to get rid of them. Never again.

I think you got the message, but to re-inforce--trucks never run re-treads on steering axles...........................MO

I have. Ever since I got my first set of ployglas, will never go back to radials. I like the looks and the drive. And it blows people mind when they see the ployglas “holy ****, I haven’t seen those since the late 70’s” I get the whole radial tire thing but that’s not what I buy my muscle cars for. I like to take a step back in time, when you actually had to drive a car. If I’m gonna run radials, well darn, might as well put efi in, a/c in, add power seats and power windows, let’s not forget brakes, ditch those drums and add disc. I like to be stay in the 60’s 70’s era with my muscle cars, just my preference!:popcorn2:

the only time I'd ever use retreads would be on a dedicated mud toy that'll never see the road namely cause mud tires are $$$ and retreads for mud tires locally is 75 bucks a tire.

Commercial truck tire casings are a totally different beast than car tires. Most caps on trucks are put on trailers any more. Much less use on drive axles than years ago. A big no-no on a steering axle. I like my Polyglass GTs on my AAR. I used bias plys until 1989 on my 1973 340 Duster daily driver I bought new (Road Huggers). Got about 20K miles out of a set. All season radials were a big improvement in snow.

Just like you prefer the polyglas, somewhere there is a guy who likes tube tires and hand brakes. It's technology that allows a car and driver to perform better. Its your car, make it/keep it what you feel is best.

Man, I thought I was on top of the mountain of the old-school-back-in- the-day crowd. My only, and I mean only, concession, is driving on radial tires. ( nothing bigger than 15" though !! )

Oh yeah, I like to kick it old school. Coke in glass bottles, music from the 70’s and 80’s. Drive in movie theaters, drive in to eat, I dig the retro stuff

Modern radials with vintage looks.
