Hi All:
I have a 71 challenger 340, trying to get it started. I have spark to the distributor but have no spark at the spark plugs.
New Ballast resistor
new coil
new negative cable
new voltage regulator

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Al

If you have spark going into the distro but not coming out check your distro cap and rotor for corrosion. Clean the contacts first and replace if corrosion is prevalent. You might also check resistance on the wires with an ohm meter. Here are some specs to start with. If the measurements fall outside this you may have bad wires prohibiting spark to the plug.

0-15 in. (0-38cm): 3,000-10,000 ohms.

15-25 in. (38-64cm): 4,000-15,000 ohms.

25-35 in. (64-89cm): 6,000-20,000 ohms.

Over 35 in. (89cm): 25,000 ohms.

Agree, one other thing would be to pull each wire from the cap and check for any corrosion or arcing build up there.

I assume this is a breaker point / condenser ignition, not electronic. If so, are the points opening? Are they burned? As aeon280 and Don stated, check the rotor and the terminals inside the cap for corrosion.

The rotor, dist cap and wires are all new.

New doesn't mean it works by today's standards!
Take a few pictures for us so we can see what ignition type you have if it's points if there not set right you won't get spark any further in the system!
