Watched an episode last night I had taped earlier. Lady brings in her husband's car for some work. 71 Sport Fury. She claims he ordered it. Takes forever to hit dealer. Comes in wrong color, most options wrong. 383 with " factory " 6 bbl installed. Hmmm. A year later, Plymouth contacts him. Factory prototype, they need it back. He declines. Keeps it all these years.
Seem suspect. Anybody know anything about this ?

Saw that episode as well.... without factual proof it is just a story.....

The guy that owned the car if he or somebody worked on the car should never touch another car!

That wiring was screwed up!

Seemed hokey! I kinda chuckled when I saw the 383 6bbl with all the aftermarket parts and BS flame job air cleaner. It was hard to pay attention after that.

Would like to see the build sheet or fender tag.

There's a car that's been on ebay a couple of times and a long story about it on both sides.

The owner swears it's legit, but the argument against is that it's simply a mis-stamped VIN.

If it's the same one, it's pretty rough and the asking price was 14K IIRC.

All those shows suck. Just reality shows in general really suck.

And what the heck happened to Harry Heck? Faded. Drive by.

Try to install a six-pack manifold for a 440 rb engine (factory never did a 383 b engine six-pack ) did they ? There would be a slight intake port mismatch without spacers at the least as well as other problems.
.

They are local to me, seen enough of their finished cars in person. I wouldn't let them change my oil ...

impossible. There is/was an aftermarket 6 barrel manifold produced for the lb engine.

The owner is the same guy that had that '70 300-H coupe on the show. Claims it is a factory 383+6 with factory air conditioning!!! He bought the car new, and I noticed they were pretty intent on NOT showing the fender tag through all that. Nice car, very nice indeed! But, he claims that "Plymouth" called him nearly a year after getting the car and demanding to buy this alleged "prototype" back. I cal total BS on that! It's a 383 Golden Commando with a 4-bbl originally, of course. You can see the crude cut along the front of the air cleaner baseplate to clear the A/C compressor. But, trying to say it's a prototype, when no 383+6 was ever built factory, makes no sense. A "prototype" if it were a '69? I could see. One built into the second year of a three-year style cycle, and knowing the 383 had but one more model year left before being replaced by the 400...hell, no! Such a ridiculous story about the car's history!

It was a rat's nest of wiring hell under the hood and dash. Little of that worked, and the owner had a couple of small fires, as a result. Ran only on the center carb, and had a few other problems, too.

A 383+6 intake was available through Direct Connection for several years, and then, Edelbrock marketed the same intake for a time. So, yes, you can have a 383+6 (or a 400 or a 361) built with Chrysler parts...just not as a factory unit available on an assembly-line built car!

Short Dan tells a guy wanting a 69 Camero Ragtop build that reliable after-market power windows are impossible to find. Electric Life aftermarket including reugulators have been working fine for me. Any issues with them have nothing to do with a1electric.

And he won't put in aftermarket A/C, go figure .

Would like one show where they actually work on cars in a 2 car garage without a lift.
In actuality that's what most guys I run with
have.

They have that show. Garage Rescue I think it's called.
