15x8 for the front of 1971 satellite

Yes you can. Its all about backspace and tire choice. Since you are looking to use a wider wheel I assume you are looking at no taller than 65 series tires so you should be good up to a 245 if you get the backspace right. A good rule of thumb I have read is look for combinations that provide no more than 27.5 inch total diameter and 10 inch width. 4.5 backspace/0 offset is a good place to start as well on a 8 inch. that is the backspace I run with 27x10 tires on my 67 and I have no interference turn to turn and it looks good. yours being a 71 has wider front fenders so you may adjust that BS to push more of the wheel surface out to the edge of the fender. Maybe 4.25 or even 4 for more negative offset.

In fact got a set of 8 3/4" that are going to tried with 275-50s. They may not stay but going to try anyway.

I have 15x8s with a 3.75bs on my 72. No problems.
What size tire? Have had 15x8, 4" back on the 72 with L60x15. Liked nice but tires were to tall and rubbed on back of wheel well when turning. Think a 265x60 would have worked.

I had 15x8 4.5"BS wheels all the way around on my 73RR. I had issues with the fronts hitting the A-arm and knocking off the wheel wights. I now have 15x7 with 4.25BS up front and haven't had any issues with A-arm interference. Then again I just put them on. a little more time will tell.

In front ? Wow, we did L60 or N50 in back, had some problems depending on the particular wheel.

I had 15x8 with 4.5 BS 225/60r15 tires. I had issues with the upper A-arm knocking the wheel weights off of the wheels during a sharp turn. I have since went with a 7" front wheel with 3.5" BS with no fitment issues.

1/2" can make a big difference. Some day when I have time i am going to try some 8 3/4" of unknown back space.

Yep, me too. 15x8 with 4.5" BS will contact the upper A arm.

sorry it's 4.25" Back space

I run a 235/70/15 tire with a 15x8 wheel with 4 1/2" bs on a 74 RR. It fits good.
