1966 Coronet 440 field find

Revival! Ok. My goal was to inspect and drive this thing this summer. Pushing it now, but I'm days away from my windshield coming in and I have been wondering about rims / tires. So I'm lucky with scoring nice 14" wheels but with my big front brakes I need 15". I looked around and I found a set......in my mezzanine! These are 15X7-4" backspace 5x4-1/2" bolt pattern van wheels. I never though about using them. I thought they would be too wide bla bla bla. 66/67 thing. So I put one on. With a straight edge I have 3/4" clearance outside and over 2" to the spring. They'll do for now. Obviously with more offset I could get more tire. But I have a set of 225/70/15's that I will use for now. I still may drive it this year!

Thanks Basket. I am hoping they will look right. I am a square lines for square cars kind of guy if that makes sense. I have rallyes but I feel they suit Dusters, Challengers etc with the more curvy bodies. This one would love Keystone Classics, but alas, the only set I have are 14"!

Cragars were good enough for The Dandy One!

Keystones would be great too.

It'll be interesting to see them with tires mounted but I'm really liking the looks of those.

Well, this is how it will ride for a while. I like it. I know some don't like Turbines, but I've never really cared about somebody else's dislikes! It's all about smiles per gallon, and the guy paying for the gallons better be smilin'! :) Man it's smoky out today. Gonna make the outdoor Prism concert tonight kinda miserable.

that looks great! And you're right...do your car to make you happy.

I got the bug again. So I installed the door glass. Yes, I was avoiding that as it's kind of a pain in the ***. But it's done. I'm very happy with the Softseal product, but slightly disappointed in the Cat Whiskers. The whiskers in the back were great, but these fronts left a little to be desired. I feel they are mistakenly clipped because they have a folded / finished edge at the front where you don't see it and the clips do not line up very well anyway. I actually had to trim a piece off the front of the drivers outside seal. I got it, but not impressed. Oh well, that's a job done and gone! The tape on the door seal is to help hold things in place while the windshield adhesive takes a grip. The doors definitely close harder now!

I "should" have a windshield Tuesday....................

I dug the bumpers out after 5 years of hiding. The front is a 67. It's all I have. The 66 front was damaged badly when I got the car. The rear is fairly nice. They will do. These are my 1966 Alberta plates. Luckily, they even have 66 in the sequence. I also observed that I have RC's initials as well!

Yes, it will be painted eventually. Not his year though. The color is a generic brand and is simply called "Blue / Green Turquoise". It's actually a very nice color. I agree, the rims turned out better than I thought they might.
