1973 Dodge Charger SE a/c question

As I stated before, check up under the drivers side of the lower cowl to see if the vent box hole as been patched. That would tell you.
Who knows what could have been done to the car.
My Dart was a factory a/c car but now it is not.

Holes on AC firewall to the evaporator and heater cores are originally kinda oval for each one of the cores ( one to each one ) while on your firewall are like 4 round holes cut and paired/linked. Aside that, the holes are sealed with somekind of sealer while original pieces are somehow of foamy gaskets

On outer side of firewall is visible the hole to the blower cooling hose used on Heater cars which is sealed with somekind of sealer ( same used on AC and Heater lines inlets ). On Heater cars that cooling hose fits diagonally between blower and that hole. Blower motor is indexed around 120 degrees off to meet the cooling provision coming out from heater box and the mentioned motor hole. For a while AC cars got the blower with the cooling air provision for the motor itself pointing out straight to the floor and firewall is set for that hose. This hose is way smaller.

On both setups this cooling air to refresh the motor comes from fiberglass box. The same air the blower blows out, it gets to the motor to keep it cooler as posible while spinning. The AC/Heater blower is the mothesucker of all the electrical devices on our cars and gets lot of heat due the load required.
Hole for ac lines coming thru fire wall is oval and both lines enter thru the one oval hole.
 
Ok, look at this 72 firewall, and where it takes the blower cooling hole hose. It seems you added a sealer there. It doesn't exist any hole there on that area of firewall on an AC car. It does exist a hole there where you fill with sealer or not? If not, why that sealer?

My 73 is a factory A/C car and the inlet/outlet hose nipples do not look like that at all. the simply come through the firewall with no visible mounting brackets.

BTW Bob, the refrigeration gas lines ( or at least one of them ) got a bracket with hex holes to hold it on place the lines while tighten them up. My car got it.

Is hard to find a clear view of the bracket holding the line but here the bracket is visible!

I found a pic of mine before the engine install. You can see what he means about the oval holes. One drain below the heater motor and another more toward the right (center)

I'd be curious to see if the vent to the left of the dash looks like it's had the hole cut with a saw.

Should be relatively easy to remove the plastic vent.

Also the blower motor fits into a rounded-triangular hole that has a lip around it.

it would be really hard to reproduce that lip.

hard to see in the pic since there's so much goop.

Was there foam in those hose and line pass through hols before the goop was put on?

That foam is nearly indestructible, even here in humid FL.

The vent on the left side was not cut.

yes there is foam around the ac lines on the fire wall.

and there is a lip around the fan.

I put the putty there because of the engine heat was coming into cabin.
