Just an FYI while a few did slip out it's the correct term to use as Plymouth was "Six Barrel" and Dodge was "Six Pack" so the "kid" is right....
 
I know, I read that over and over again trying to find the problem ... the factory air cleaner decal shown in the opening segment at 20 seconds reads: "440 six barrel".

As long as he is not trying to pass it as numbers matching or original how cares? After all it a U code.
 
We’re told there is an original 440 engine for it the owner still has, would have to see some back-up on that claim, torque boxes, maybe a vin shot. nothing in the video supports an original “U” code car. Quite a few incorrect mods, ’71 horn in the wrong location, black engine compartment, missing the inner fender struts big block cars got in '72. Somethings about that car just don’t add up to a RR/GTX IMO.

Sure there are things not original like wheels, gauges, black grille, painted bumpers etc. but I must have missed where he said it was an original concours restoration... I see nothing that says it could not be a U code car that has went through decades of use....

The problem with the crotchety old dudes in this hobby is they will be the ones that kill it off, not the kids. If the kids don’t have anyone willing to pass the info on they will move on to the cookie cutter cars most of them already prefer. I’m 45 and both of my kids want old cars, my soon to be 14 year old daughter wants a Ramcharger and my son wants a Duster but has shown some interest in his grandpa’s 73 Charger so as long as people are willing to pass along their info the muscle car side of the hobby can survive
 
I took my 73 rally charger to a car meet. I had two young kids (17 or so) Just nuts over it. They loved the simplicity of the car. Even the manual roll up windows and the uncluttered of the engine compartment just made their day. Not many 3rd generation chargers here so it's one of those muscle cars that you'll get the thumbs going down the road or people wantng to look at it when filling it up.
I'm glad there still young guys that appreciate these cars.
 
I get comments and thumbs up on mine nearly every time I drive it.

...and it's "just" a 73, "just" a Satellite, and "just" a 318.
 
All in all, the kid did OK. He appreciates our passion. I love helping the teen next door working on his dad's 85 Vette. Have to foster the interest of the new generations.
 
at least hes in a muscle car. i give my buddies kids hell about their rice burners but thats what they like. their dad helps them mod them like we mod our cars. just picked up a 76 dart for me and my boy to work on for him. my dad did the same with me when i was younger. have to pass it on. Its what hot rodding is all about.
 
Great video, and I believe that the 72 horn is in the correct location
 
The ’72 horn mounting is in in the fender supports not the radiator core support as this one is pictured. My original ’72 RR/GTX horn location is on the passenger side.
