Years back I swapped a Cordoba tilt column into a 74 Duster. It wasn't a difficult swap. The steering shaft had to be shortened to fit the A-body chassis. The wiring had to be fiddled with a bit too. I really liked having a tilt wheel. The older models with tilt were so much different than todays cars. Modern cars seem to tilt from the firewall so they don't articulate much. Older versions tilt between the dash and steering wheel.
I sold the Duster in 2011 but I have another column from another floor shift Cordoba in the shed. I am toying with the idea of swapping it into my 70 Charger. Again, I'm aware that it is not a direct bolt it.
I'm curious to hear from other members that may have tried this swap. Here is what it looked like in my Duster:

Nice job. I have a few spare late b boy columns, I also wondered if one would fit a older b-body. Never considered a a body. I have a 69 Dart, with a sad looking steering wheel. Maybe I will give it a shot.
 
These columns are actually built by a GM supplier, Saginaw gear. Almost all of the guts are GM parts. It still uses a pentagon shaped ignition key though.
They used a rag joint coupler at the firewall that morphed into a common style Mopar splined coupler at the steering box.
I had to shorten that shaft a few inches for the Duster. I'm guessing I may have to modify it for the Charger as well. The wiring plug had a few redundant wires. Another thing, the GM columns had a neutral safety switch that is activated by a sliding rod on the column as opposed to the traditional Mopar setup where the switch was in the trans itself. My column is missing a few parts. I will have to hunt down the parts before making any test fitting.
Another option is the tilt columns used in the last of the REAR wheel drive cars...Diplomats, Gran Fury and the Fifth Avenue cars.
 
The problem with M body columns is that 99% are column shift, and even if you are doing a column shift car, the indicator is in the dash and not on the column :(
 
Do the Cordoba columns telescope like the earlier ones? If so that seams like a really simple job shortening it, pull the lower shaft all the way out, chop it off, slide back in?
 
Cordoba columns just tilt.
I'm talking about how the shaft is made in 2 pieces so in the case of a crash the inner tube can slide inside instead of driving the whole column.

I forgot about the column shift.
Many times though you can remove the shift lever by driving out the roll pin and grinding down the nub. I've then used body filler to cover the remaining hole, prime then paint. The housings are pot metal so you can't weld over them. I'm not sure if you can even use lead or solder to fill in the gap.
The later model units have a multi-function turn signal lever with cruise control functions on it. I don't know if a traditional type turn signal stalk would be a direct fit or not.
 
You just gotta put cruise in your classic.

All the parts from the M body should work.
